I will start with Grey Gardens
It is enjoyable, has a nice score & great performances but it is not the greatest thing since sliced bread
I liked SA better & Mary Poppins & eagerly look forward to Curtains

May I be extreeeeemely rude?
RENT, and
Anything by SONDHEIM.
Oh, I've done it now.
I think Wicked. The musical itself isn't bad at all, but critics are comparing every show to it.

I agree on RENT but like the movie more than the show
Re Sondheim, I must slighly disagree. He is talented & writes great scores but can we remove him from the pedestal many have placed him on
Follies was a once in a lifetime experience & one of the greatest musicals written

Oh man, this is going to be a fighting thread!
I'm going to go with:
Hair
Spring Awakening
Bare
Sunday in the Park
Into the Woods
They all have good qualities, but are held in higher esteem than they deserve, I think.
I was bored silly with Into the Woods
a) It's Grey Gardens, with an E.
b) How many more of these threads do we really need?
"can we remove him from the pedestal many have placed him on"
No.
Ok
You want to keep him there fine. If that does it for you great
Phantom,Phantom, and Phantom
oh and Wicked
"If we don't live happily ever after at least we survive until the end of the week!" -Kermit the frog "I need the money... it costs a lot to look this cheap!" -Dolly P. "Oh please, Over at 'Gypsy' Patti LuPone hasn't even alienated her first daughter yet!" Mary Testa in "Xanadu" "...Like a drunk Chita Rivera!" Robin de Jesus in "In the Heights"
"B*tch, I don't know your life." -Xanadu After that if he still doesn't understand why you were uncomfortable and are now infuriated, kick him again but this time with Jazz Hands!!! -KillerTofu

Yeah, Sondheim is a great wordsmith, but not the world's great composer.
While I really enjoyed Company which I just saw, and I saw so much more with this new orchestration, I think his early work was bordering on genius, but his later stuff lacks his early punch and drive.
I STRONGLY disagree with Spring Awakening being overrated, although I think some people on here only dislike it because it's popular.
I think, I'm sorry, West Side Story.
Spring Awakening- it was okay, not my favorite
grey gardens- better than spring awakening but still okay
phantom- it was visually stunning and amazing but now....
drowsy- its funny but not that all amazing

Maybe I just saw phantom at a bad time, but yeah I was board. I'm a big fan of the book though.

Wicked
Hello Dolly
Dissing Dolly will get you the eternal wrath of Dollypop
Music Man was the one good musical Meredith WIlson wrote
"Dissing Dolly will get you the eternal wrath of Dollypop"
Oh no, how much wrath can an anonymous cipher bring down on a message board - not scared, i have an opinion.
