General onsale for this begins September 9. Right now only scheduled to March 1. Does the Menier Chocolate Factory have a history of extending productions?
Saw this last night after scoring a TodayTix Rush seat. I was absolutely blown away from laughing so damn hard. The cast was so good, especially Trevor Ashley as Roger! WHAT AN ICON HE IS! I’ve heard rumors about this transferring to the West End some time next year, which is NEEDED! The run is completely sold out at the Menier but if you can score a rush ticket, go for it! You won’t be disappointed!
The idea is to work and to experiment. Some things will be creatively successful, some things will succeed at the box office, and some things will only - which is the biggest only - teach you things that see the future. And they're probably as valuable as any of your successes. -Harold Prince
If you’re familiar with the original - has much changed? It looks like new arrangers & orchestrators are credited, and it’s obviously a much smaller production than the original.
I have never seen the show live on stage before, so I wouldn’t know, unfortunately. I did watch the movie musical years and years ago. Some bits and pieces I remember from that film on stage, but other than that, it felt fresh to me. It was still an outstanding production

Where are rush seats? I recall that theater is quite small and every seat tends to be a good seat. Andy Nyman (who was Gov Thropp in the Wicked movie) is Bialystock!

TodayTix. Every show from now till the end of the run in early March, they will release 4 tickets per show. Odds are slim but as long as you get on the app early enough, it you might have a shot.

I saw Trevor Ashley in Melbourne in a Production Company version of The Producers and he played the German. It was a brilliant production and to this day I still laugh and remember his very funny performance.

Apologies for the delay. Time zone difference, lol. I sat in Row H, Seat 12 in the back, but I was dead center, so I had a perfect view of the stage. This space is very small. If you're close to the stage, you might miss some things, so I am glad these seats were in the back.

I would 'kill' to see his 'Roger'.."
If this goes to the West End, he better reprise his role! His Roger had me LAUGHING so hard my head hurt! I'm gonna try to see it again with the Rush tickets because I had a blast!

I’m not sure I could see this transferring unless they amp up some of the production values and replace a couple of the cast but I had the best time. The show feels even more hilarious now because some of this non-PC humour is even more outrageous today than I remember it to be. It also just feels so well written until maybe towards the end where I feel they didn’t really know where to go.
"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022)
"Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009)
"Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000
I’ve always thought people underrate the show (if that’s possible, despite all the Tonys) because it didn’t continue to be a juggernaut post Lane/Broderick and that somehow got tied into the quality of the show itself. As written, I think it’s a glorious piece of musical theater.
Saw this today and had a blast. I know the rumor is for it to go to the Garrick early next year but like someone said earlier, they’re going to need to really expand on sets/cast if that’s to happen. But as it is right now, it’s really great.
Wick3 said: "Only thing I wished the seats had were armrests."
Only if the seats are wide enough. I typically don't care for the armrests in the older theatres as they can make the seat a tight and uncomfortable squeeze.

When I went to chocolate menier factory jt was simply a very long cushioned bench. At least with armrests you have a dedicated space for you. Without armrests it can be a tight squeeze depending on your neighbors.
