They could at least have Best Book, Best Score, and Best Choreography presented on the main telecast. The design categories and Best Orchestrations presented on a separate televised pre-show makes sense since they're really the unsung heroes of a production.

But Pink was so good in her Broadway show, right?! oh wait… she’s never done one! She’s a Broadway fan just like you. Moulin Rogue stinks up its own stage, don’t blame that on him.


The ratings will have the final say. I strongly predict they won’t be higherthan Cynthia’s. We will see."

What is there to even debate? She sold out Wrigley Field and Soldier Field here in Chicago. Sold out an entire world tour... She's VERY famous. I don't think the ratings are going to reflect her popularity only because A) This is a pretty lame season already B) The New Musicals (to me) are not exciting.

Pink his one devoted mama moving to NYC so her daughter can be closer to bway and pursue her dreams.  And good for Pink for making an effort to jump into the bway community and bring more attention to the Tony's (which she certainly will).  A couple of her songs are already in bway shows, and her tours are super theatrical.  I think it is a fun choice and hopefully will bring new eyeballs to the broadcast

I think she'll be great! She's an incredibly talented and seasoned performer and, if the Tonys are smart, they'll make good use of that. Years ago on an episode of Watch What Happens Live, I remember her talking about her love for Bette Midler and how excited she was to see her in Hello, Dolly! So she's been at least a casual Broadway fan for some time.

And if anybody can bring in a major audience to the TONY Awards, it’s an artist who’s very much influenced by the Broadway community and that’s exactly who P!nk is

I think Pink is a great choice. The idea that the Tonys Host should be someone who has explicitly performed on Broadway before is so silly. They're not the same skill set... like at all... 

 

Though I do expect Jinkx will host at some point in the near future.

It is worth noting that the last time we had a host who never performed on Broadway before was Hugh Jackman when he first did it back in 2003. He's even mentioned in subsequent interviews how surprised he was to even be offered the job at that point. Although granted, he did notably start out in musical theatre in Australia before becoming a celebrity as Wolverine.
