I don't know if this has anything to do with the new producers for this year's telecast or the new management in charge of Paramount (which owns CBS). If the latter, it certainly doesn't help that its CEO, David Ellison, happens to be an ally of Donald Trump.
Luckily, the Tonys' current contract with CBS is set to expire this year. If it doesn't get renewed, hopefully they'll get picked up by someone who'll treat them with great respect."
If I were you I would keep my fingers that CBS continues with the Tonys if not you will not likely see them on broadcast television again. Also I would think some of the production values.
