She's a little older than that. Don't feel like looking it up, but I believe she's either 21 or 22. There have been other girls about that age who have played the role. They just didn't seem quite so... virginal.
I'll admit that I often enjoy the HSM soundtracks, but she sounds (well, they all sound) very autotuned on it. Her voice is pretty when she's not yelping, trying to belt, or off-pitch, but I'm sorry, sometimes isn't good enough. "It could have been worse" doesn't make it okay. Call me too harsh if you must, but that's how I feel. There's a standard that should be upheld.

Em, who are you to argue with the 200,000 people who saw this over the course of three nights? That's 150,000 people a night!
For the person who asked - no Aaron was not the one playing the star spangled banner.

I am honored that you are monitoring my responses, must mean that the words have some validity. Acknowledging your self-proclaim expertise, I look forward to your specific replies to my question submitted to you on who would be a better director the NPH?
Re: Christina
The "what if" applies to everybody and anybody, but the truth is that Brittany, Justin and Christina had the opportunity to be tutored/mentored/trained/promoted by one of the most powerful entertainment entity in Hollywood that few other people have. It was a key reason why she got the opportunity - whether it was directly or indirectly through the MMC. She had the talent, drive and passion to attain the success she's had. In SoCal (and elsewhere), there are many talented people that go undiscovered every day because they didn't have the chance to meet the right person.
Re: Neil Patric Harris
He is talented, but (more importantly) a hot commodity at this time. With 50,000+ people going to the Hollywood Bowl to see Rent, management was happy. His inexperience in successfully (creatively)doing shows in BIG venue was very evident. Interesting (seemingly) that he didn't tap into Hollywood Bowl history filled with successful (creatively) of producing shows at the Bowl.
Re: Impact
Will this production be remembered and, if so, what will it be remembered for. Will it be known as the breakout gig for Nicole? Will this experience make Vanessa more determined than ever to improve herself to successfully take on challenging roles or will it be the start of Vanessa disappearing from being a major player in Hollywood. It is interesting that there isn't much chatter on the other actors in this production, especially when compared to Vanessa and Nicole. What actor will receive the greatest benefits.
Maybe why I like her better here than on the HSM songs I've heard is because she hasn't been autotuned here (well, that and I kind of favour this source material). It drives me crazy on Glee and anywhere else. I admit there were a few definite off-pitch moments in Light My Candle, but I do think the pitchiness (sorry) was largely due to her attempt at conversational talk-singing. More than a week of rehearsal may have sorted that out, but we'll never know for sure.

Too funny!
Just something that irks me. And I guess I am mostly referring to poster Ryan's blog. The Bowl was not sold out. You not only say it was.. but also make a big deal of it? Sure there were a lot of people there on all three nights. But it was not sold out. I know it is silly. But mis information irritates me.
I agree with you DAME!
I know for a fact it wasn't sold out and I wasn't even there! I was curious myself to see how tix were selling throughout the weekend. On Friday (mind you this is opening night), I checked for availabilities for all 3 days and was still able to select up to 30+ tix on Ticketmaster. It gave me seats just passed the mid section. Sure, there were probably last minute buyers but come on, that's already saying something!
Yes, the bowl's capacity is 17,396 and for 3 days it would have been 52,188 total but folks, lets not get those number confused with actual tix sold!
I hope one day, US Asians, you'll learn how to spell Neil Patrick Harris' name correctly.

were those Aaron's tattoos or were they makeup ?
Aaron's tattoos were fake.
fake but hot. I am a total Roger snob, but he looked quite good in those pants! and the facial scruff!
I am a Roger snob too...I believe I've seen six different Rogers. Aaron looked so hot, I was glad he didn't wear the green sweater...yum! He sounded great too. Such a different look from Hairspray, Next to Normal and Wicked.

@TheRyanOConnorShow: Yes, Rent is an unfinished musical because Larson died before it opened, but would he have let Mimi die if he had a chance to re-write once more? No.
He (Larson) has been quoted saying that Mimi lives because he wanted to write a show about life and not death. He thought that if Mimi died, it would be a show about the latter.

The dead homo character notwithstanding.

Yes, Larson thought one character dying was enough.

Right, so it's a show about life for straight people.

If it makes you feel better to interpret it that way, then by all means.

How else do you interpret a show that claims its message is about life but kills the gay and lets the straight (who arguably should have probably been dead sooner, given how she didn't take care of herself) live?
ReNT's a good time and all, but that's hardly the only mixed message it sends.
Live for today -- with no sense of responsiblity or thought of the future. There's a great message, too.

I like how we're supposed to root for Collins blowing up expensive university equipment because he did it as a ~social message~. And then at the end he steals from an ATM but it's okay because he's using the money to support starving artists!
Sorry, I very much enjoy pointing out the horrible messages contained in RENT.
It's actually a show for lesbians, not straight people. They're the only subgroup in the show who don't have drug addictions or STDs.

If we want to start digging up some REALLY old chestnuts -
Why does Mark leave to help Maureen at the beginning of the show, but makes it back for the Today 4 U scene and THEN goes to Maureen?
Where do they all live during the week between Christmas and New Year's?
Who would say - unless trying to make a lyric work - "whose rent keeps open our shop"?
During the title song how does Mark answer the phone if the power is out?
You sound young.
Come on now, who of you wouldn't coerce a dog to jump to her death for 1,000 smackers? :P

I know, right? St Angel is perfect but will kill a dog.
