You were not supposed to point that one out.
What do I know I am simply a stuffed penguin that some poor shulb sits in front of a computer while he goes out and enjoys "lofe."
RENT had some really good reviews and most of the acting notices were very positive.
I think a nice new song would have assured that one elusive nomination, I still think Adam should have written an in character Roger song in honor of his friend "John."
ETA: I'll try to get you Jessie and Idina, you can decide later.

Though could you imagine Jose getting stompled as hoards of people flocked...
You better believe I'd be running with my arms out, palms front, hands open!

this is just my opinion, i don't want to upset anyone or think i'm attacking anyone in particular, this is just after reading everything

"I think a nice new song would have assured that one elusive nomination, I still think Adam should have written an in character Roger song in honor of his friend "John." "
But it wouldn't be the same if it wasn't written by the composer..and that may be a bit hard to conjure - especially since they didn't have YOU (penguin) on board.
But he's a scary thought - my mom thought I had the same disease Larson had...because of my heart condition. I better get started on that musical then!

Although I would have loved to see a GG nomination, I doubt that it would have helped with the box office numbers, regardless of the GGs Rent has, unfortunately, closed in theatres where I lived. Knowing, from previous posts, I did like the movie, very much indeed, I saw it 3 times, and meaning no disrespect to Mr. Rapp, Mr. Columbus or anyone else in the movie I did not feel it was award material. That being said, I would have loved for it to get a nom, but just the movie being made is award enough, (sorry if that sounded cheesy).
The entire cast and crew should be increadabley proud of their accomplishments, and as I said in a PM to Anthony, should be thanked for taking Rent into a new medium for people who may never be able to see the show, see a show that changed many lives.

Hi Anthony. If I say your name 3 times, will the same thing happen, or is smartpenguin special?

I was not particulary fond of the stage version of Rent, but I was extremely moved by the movie. Sure there were flaws in it. How many movies are flawless?
I'm certainly not a "Renthead", but this movie really touched me deeply. It was on a level that few movies or plays have ever achieved.
To me it may be a financial flop (meaning that it will not recoup it's investment), but in terms of artistic achievement I believe it's stature will grow in time.
I was saddened that it didn't received any GG nominations. I believed that there were some good candidates that were overlooked.
Anthony,
Thanks for taking the time to respond. There are many here that appreciate and value your input.

...
Damn! Guess it only works for people!
Rach - I understand what you are saying. And I didn't read the comments that got everyone's undies in a bundle...but...
If we are entitled to our opinions, and don't like the way a certain actor performs, are we NOT entitled to say so? Whether or not said person posts?
A LOT of people in the bix reads BWW...I'd rather be able to explain to the person what I don't like, than pretend I do like them. And doing this, I wouldn't do it publicly either.

Or I could just conjure him up. But I didn't want to force myself into the project.
There are many vindictive people everywhere, I still contend the majority of the people on this board are thoughtful and articulate, even when they disagree.

I'm probably grasping at straws here, but...
While RENT is losing quite a few theaters (i don't know what the numbers are), a nomination would have helped in the theaters it was remaining in. I'm not saying it would help greatly, but there are a few people out there who may have decided against another movie (because of critic thrashing, for instance) and gone to a "GG nom. film."

Like I said, I didn't read because I couldn't find the comments.
Atria - this is a theatre board. People would create tremendous fuss over a mis-darned sock.
