"Porgy and Bess" for orchestrations? Boo. Of all the desecrations that production has committed, the awful, awful orchestra reduction was what bugged me the most. Disappointing that they would be honored for doing that.
And what does it say about the state of Broadway music that in a season with 8 new musicals, half of the Best Score nominations come from straight plays?
No Bernadette Peters! I really wanted a nomination for her! Damn! Although, Spider-Man got something. I thought they were going to be left out all together.
"Ok ok ok ok ok ok ok. Have you guys heard about fidget spinners!?" ~Patti LuPone
SO thrilled for Laura Osnes, and for the fact that they realized BONNIE & CLYDE actually had a better score then half the shows running right now.
No Paige for FOLLIES, not she I think she really deserved it, but still shocking.
But really so so happy for Osnes.
"Oh look at the time, three more intelligent plays just closed and THE ADDAMS FAMILY made another million dollars" -Jackie Hoffman, Broadway.com Audience Awards
Paige absolutely deserved a nomination. I am happy for Houdyshell. And almost shocked that she got a nomination for a 3 minute song and less than 10 lines. She was great though.
