Who new a play could be nominated for choreography.
Absolutely nothing to rant about as a Fun Home fan. So proud and happy :'). I ordered a Fun Home shirt yesterday from the Playbill store. Can't wait to wear it, especially during the Tonys! The one Tony season I don't want anyone else winning but Fun Home and all 12 of the Tonys its nominated for.
"I think its true because I think they would have been nominated for Best Musical, Score, Lead Actor, Orchestrations, and possibly featured actress, featured actor, and choreo. We will never know though"
Jason Robert Brown was overlooked for the score of a show that closed earlier than Honeymoon in Vegas. The date of the show closing had no bearing on that category, and I doubt it would have made a difference elsewhere, either.

This is not the first instance of a play being nominated for Best Choreography.

Wow to An American in Paris noms, this means it will win more than Choreography now? Fun Home, be aware!
Disliked:
No Lisa Howard, no Josh Grisetti, and no set for ISBY.
No Bryce Pinkham.
No Side Show for Costumes.
LIKED:
Micah Stock!!! Had him down but thought it was a long shot.
EMILY SKEGGS! Yay! I was sure Tyne Daly was going to get in before she did.
Good news: I got 91% right! A new record for me!
"It would have gotten a lot of nominations. How can you say that wouldn't happen?"
Because it didn't happen.

Definitely would've loved to see some JRB/Rob McClure love in there. But besides that, I'm thrilled with these nominations. So happy for all the King and I love! (even though I'm slightly confused by Ken's nod)
Overall I'm pretty satisfied with the nominations. I enjoy Doctor Zhivago but I'm not surprised it was left out. Personally, I would have nominated it for best score over The Last Ship though I did enjoy the score for both shows.
I can't deny a certain amount of schadenfreude over the Finding Neverland shut out. There were so many unfortunate decisions made on the way to Broadway and the show was not bettered by one of them.
No one seems upset about Peter Gallagher, I'm not upset either but not getting a nod for that part is pretty crazy.

Maybe not, but it's the first time it's happened in 5+ years. Exciting stuff, especially for a much-deserving show.

While that would be awesome, without a tie, the most they can win is 10, as they have a wonderfully ridiculous THREE actresses in Supporting Actress.
"Because it didn't happen."
yeah because it closed. You are out of your mind if you think Honeymoon wouldn't have been nominated if it was open.
Fred Ebb has to have the most posthumous nominations ever!
Curtains
The Scottsboro Boys
(and now) The Visit
That's pretty amazing!!
^^^ That is amazing!
And wow, the excitement at the Lucas home must have been INSANE this morning, as the two shows the Lucas sibling are in got a combined 21 (!!!!) nominations!!!
"The show could have run another two, three, four, six, nine, twelve weeks; it still wouldn't have been nominated. The nominators saw it, and it didn't happen. That's that."
It didn't happen because it closed!!! What don't you understand! Especially since it was so critically acclaimed lord. You are crazy for thinking that!
Was Brandon Uranowitz an expected nomination? Don't recall seeing people predicting him.
I don't think I'm going to rant because these nominations are the best they have been in years. I'm very happy that AN AMERICAN IN PARIS and FUN HOME gotten well deserved love with 12 nominations each and I'm overjoyed with THE KING AND I's 9 nominations (with one being Ken Watanabe which I expected).
It's kind of disappointing that SIDESHOW didn't get anything but I am surprised that HONEYMOON IN VEGAS and FINDING NEVERLAND got literary nothing.
When it comes down to it, I think at this point the race just got a whole lot more interesting.
Agree with many on here – this is the happiest I have been with the nominations in years. Beyond thrilled to see so many aspects of “Fun Home” nominated and amazing to see all 3 Alisons get nominated. Hoping to see Sydney Lucas pull it out, but I would be thrilled to see any of them awarded!
I think the only thing that is truly surprising me is “The Visit” not getting nominated for scenic design. I guessed 72% of the nominations correctly, but even the ones I missed aren’t surprising
Also happy to see “Curious Incident” snag a nomination for choreography.
Thrilled with the nominations and glad to see the Kristin/Alan pairing as hosts. Very excited for the awards this year!
"You are out of your mind if you think Honeymoon wouldn't have been nominated if it was open."
And you are out of your mind if you think another three/four weeks would have done anything at all. I loved Honeymoon, but I am not entirely upset that it didn't get any nods (mostly because I'm too over-the-moon for Fun Home).
Shows that ran much shorter than Honeymoon have been nominated in the past (i.e. The Scottsboro Boys) and Honeymoon for all intents and purposes ran much longer than anyone thought it would. How long a show runs on Broadway has no major affect as to how many Tony nods it gets.

I wasn't expecting him, but it's not entirely out of left field. Several reviews singled him out as one of the production's best aspects.
I know that!! But the fact that it was one of the most critically acclaimed musicals of the season, i think its safe to say that it would have been nominated if it was open.

I think it's safe to say you're a loser with no life.
You don't see to understand what the term "critically acclaimed" means.

I don't think it's SAFE to say that at all. It was a very packed season.
