To give a VERY late answer to EVIE's question about the Netherlands production where Mimi did die at the end: yes, it's the same one as on the Dutch cast recording. Some of the cast members were amazing (especially the women (Over the Moon was hilarious on stage) and Collins), but the production as a whole was horrible.
And regarding the screaming etc... in theatre: I think it's respectless to the performers to be screaming throughout the show, regardless of the musical/performance it is you are seeing.
Sure, when a song was good I cheer sometimes during the applause but some people seem to go off at random intervals during a performance (doe anyone know the screaming woman played by Catherine Tate, by any chance? :-P)... Luckily, those types weren't in when I saw RENT in either London (the original show, not the remixed thing) or on Broadway, but seeing Wicked in London with Idina at times just hurt my ears (because of the audience going berserk, not because of Idina's voice... ). *ugh*
Nevertheless, I'm still anxious to hear about the changes to the show for this final tour.
We have to burn our past behind us - and YOU are the first one I'm going to burn!
gobstopper, if you think that that makes it fine to shout, scream, wave signs, etc., you are sorely mistaken. The cast doesn't appreciate it and, obviously, neither will the audience members around you.
I can definitely attest to that last part. Worst Rent experience ever. They had signs and costumes, and screamed out a cast member's name after every song. My friend and I had to get drunk DURING the show. When you're in college and feel like you're too old to be in that audience, something is wrong.
I don't care about YOUR theatre experience.
I hope a 6'7" person sitting in front of you is as selfish as you are.

Wow Celra, you're giving us 18 year-olds a bad name. I would NEVER behave like that in a theater. I want to enjoy the show, and I want the audience members around me to enjoy it as well. I'd be mortified if I ruined someone else's experience during a show.
With that said, I think starting with Halloween would be a wonderful idea.
You shouldn't be allowed in a theatre until you learn how to behave like an adult, not a teething child on an airplane.
When you don't give a crap about the people around you.
It's ALL about YOU isn't it?
All of that screaming and yelling in that last post of yours must have really hurt, because you haven't said a word since... Did you break something?
You ARE giving 18 year olds a bad name.
And thanks Shannon!

Does that make me "The Breeze Beneath Your Breasts"?

The way I enjoy shows is to listen to the performers. If other audience members were as self-centred as Celra, I'd never enjoy a show ever. Thank christ Celra is just one person. :P
No, it's basically one child who doesn't have a problem ruining the show for everyone around her.
"Just drop it. You can enjoy the show your way and I'll enjoy it my way. "
By yelling and screaming... See, the problem with that is no one else can enjoy the show with you yelling your head off.
Grow up. I can't believe you are old enough to vote.

I'm only 20 but I've seen my share of shows over the years in various stages of my youth and NEVER have I EVER thought it appropriate to audibly say or yell something during a performance. I can understand "WOOOOOO!" during roaring applause, but to say or scream anything in the middle of a performance where it was never intended to get applause is completely inappropriate.
And Rent is notorious for these idiotic screaming twats. At least twice I've been tempted to threaten violence to an obnoxious teen or group of teens during performances of Rent. Not only does it make you look like an uneducated brat, but you're showing total disrespect for the performers and the people around you -- some of whom have paid upwards of $200 dollars to see the people on-stage, not your rude little ass stand up and scream because Adam Pascal comes onstage at some point in Act 2....
In Philadelphia they'll shoot you right in the theater for that kind of behavior.
