Rosario, Tracie, and Rent Cast nominated for Awards!

The Black Reel Awards have released their nominations and among them include:
Best Actress - Rosario Dawson (Rent)
Best Supporting Actress - Tracie Thoms (Rent) [ also Rosario Dawson for (Sin City) ]
Best Ensemble - Rent
Best Soundtrack - Rent

The awards are held in February. Best of luck to Rosario, Tracie and the whole cast!

I think Tracie's great, but is anyone surprised SHE was the one to get nominated . . . i dunno, maybe it's just me, anyway congrats to her!

Broadwayluva - Considering it's the Black Reel awards no. Rosario got best actress for rent and Tracie got best supporting

Anyone know if these will be televised, when, what channel etc???

I'm surprised Jesse didn't get a nom... but definitely happy for Rosario and Tracie. Also surprised the soundtrack could get nominated for best "original soundtrack." There was a big controversey about the Moulin Rouge soundtrack not being original because they did covers of songs. The Rent soundtrack isn't technically original because it's from the show.

Whatever. I hope they win everything!

This makes me happy. However, add me to those who're surprised Jesse didn't get anything. His performance was my favorite in this movie, despite my heavy Anthony/Tracie love.

I'm guessing Jesse didn't get a nom because there was heavy competition for supporting Actor with Crash and all. I think if he'd had a bigger role he would have qualified for lead actor because really that category has some crappy choices

I figured Crash would have something to do with the male category's competition. But yay for the nominations they did get!

I don't think these awards air on TV, at least there's nothing on their website to suggest that they do.

I didn't know that Rosario was Black/ African American. I thought that I read somewhere that she is Latina.

GYPSY1527 Rosario is Puerto Rican, Afro Cuban, Native American and Irish.

But please realize Latins do actually come from Africans as well, our ancestry is Spaniard, African, and whichever tribe is native to the island you're from. For example, Puerto Rico is Arawak or Taino Indians.
