"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022)
"Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009)
"Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000
UGHHHH! Whoever did this, I hope they pay for this VERY DISRESPECTFUL act to Sondheim!!
The idea is to work and to experiment. Some things will be creatively successful, some things will succeed at the box office, and some things will only - which is the biggest only - teach you things that see the future. And they're probably as valuable as any of your successes. -Harold Prince

I couldn't have said it any better than this!

I don't think Sweaty Oracle was involved because he usually makes friends only TikToks getting people to do stuff like this with him and there were none this time (yes I am mutuals with him on TikTok, no that does not mean I like or respect him).
He also seemed genuinely excited about this and also made a video about how worried he was about it because so much of Sondheim's best work came from tinkering during tryouts and previews. It's just not his MO for when he is actually bamboozling.
That being said, I am VERY curious to hear what he has to say and do want to know who it was.
It's clearly a fake account for the show. Not sure under Elon's dime if it'll matter, but everyone should be reporting that Twitter account.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.
It’s one thing for this to end up being a hoax, but it’s another thing that there aren’t ANY future productions in the works, like, at all? That’s devastating. Nothing about this was funny and whoever did this is a POS.

I was actually and I am so furious that someone had the nerve to disrespect Sondheim like this.

"Why are people still listening to him?! He’s unreliable at best and a liar at worst." There's an absence of this kind of coverage and clearly there's an interest. Who else is there to listen to? Even for fun? I agree he's terribly unreliable and generally sort of gross... but gossip is fun and there's nobody else?
"there aren’t ANY future productions in the works, like, at all? That’s devastating." Agreed, yea. I hope that's just a line they gave. It would be pretty upsetting to imagine nothing of any sort of is planned. Sigh.
I say this as someone who hasn't always really liked his takes, but it's clearly meant to be a fun thing from a Broadway fan. It's a gossip page. Like Deux Moi. They are blind items. If you're looking for real news, go to Playbill. I don't think he ever said he's trying to be a legit news source.
Oh, nvm. MY BWW wasn't showing all the posts...yet.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
