The concept of using a large community chorus sounds fun.
Do main floor Encores tickets ever become available closer to performance or would it be best to act now?
Most people bought their tickets 5 months ago because of the popularity of the cast and the show. The good seats are all sold for every night but there are seats in the mezz and balcony left. It would be good to act now if you can. Enjoy the show!

Welp, we'll see if the profit algorithm backed the right horse.

Went for a seat in row E of the Grand Circle (which looks like it has ample leg room) - thanks for the responses!

I never would’ve thought of Creel as the prince given I usually think of someone more traditionally masculine and deep voiced in the role. With that said, Gavin’s always a delight and I believe he’ll do a wonderful job. I’ve thought before that Denee Benton could be a great Cinderella, so I absolutely love that she’s got this role. The other announcements all strong as well.

"traditionally masculine"
hmm

It has nothing to do with that, Cheyenne Jackson fit that bill just a few years ago. I’m talking about how the role is usually muscular hunks with pronounced deep voices while Gavin is slim and slender with a high pitched voice.

All I said was "hmm" as in, "I have to think about this more given the number of productions of Into the Woods that have been done."

That’s not how it reads at all, but whatever.
Anyway I’m really curious about Borle. The Baker’s different from his norm, I’m excited to see what he does, I’m sure he’ll kill it and bring out new laughs. Also wondering how Bareilles will do. She’s proven she can act so I’m hoping she continues to do so, though I’m wondering how she’ll do with all the comedy. I wasn’t into her chops in pilot of Girls5eva but I’m told she improved, so I’m hopefully she’s up to the rest of this cast’s caliber.

Anyone have the discount code from the flyer?
Neil Patrick Harris has replaced Christian Borle as the Baker. Not that they needed any more help with ticket sales but that's quite a "get" (and I think NPH will be great in this part).

Wow. I’ve rarely been so disappointed in casting news. I’m not a huge Borle fan, but I actively find NPH unlikeable, so this kind of sours the whole thing for me. I wish the Baker wasn’t such a big role.

I like NPH, but this is extremely disappointing. Borle was the actor I most wanted to see in this production.

I'm on the "NPH will do well" team, but I would still personally prefer Borle. However, if Borle had other commitments elsewhere, that's just the way it goes and we have to live with it...
Yeah, I've wanted to see Borle in this part for about a decade.
Wonder if it has anything to do with SOME LIKE IT HOT's schedule? Or more likely just a more lucrative screen opportunity.
I would have preferred Borle, but I guess this will still do.

I personally believe Borle quit for personal reasons rather than schedule conflicts - After all, he's probably been attached to SLIH for longer than he's been attached to this...
To move away from casting, I think that making Into The Woods into a celebration of community could work as long as they leave that message to the end. This is probably a greater challenge for deBessonet than Hercules or Annie Live, but it shares their advantage of being well-suited to a community theme...
Wow, what a bizarre, unexpected turn. I'm not sure I've ever seen a star-power "upgrade" quite like this. It certainly ups the "event" factor, but I agree that that in terms of pure role casting (star power not considered), it's a downgrade.
Borle seems like a much better fit for the role, and IMO he's much more equipped to handle this show's specific style of humor.
And is it just me - I can't imagine Bareilles and NPH having any chemistry, but I'm perfectly happy to give them a chance.
I wonder what this means for his Little Shop break.

No, it's not just you. This is a strange decision.

I now have a ticket to sell for the Saturday matinee. Cannot stand NPH.

Same. I really liked him in Hedwig and a few other projects, but after he was so rude to Rachel Bloom at the Tonys I haven't been able to watch anything he's been in. Completely turned off. Christian Borle is one of my favorite Broadway actors and a big reason for me going to this. How incredibly unfortunate.

It reminds me of when Marin Mazzie had to bow out of Encores' MUSIC IN THE AIR right before it went into rehearsals, and Kristin Chenoweth pulled a Hail Mary and stepped in (brilliantly, by all accounts).
Also Mark Ruffalo stepping in for John Turturro in THE PRICE at Roundabout a few years ago.
