^I thought of the Turturro/Ruffalo thing too, I'd say that was slightly more lateral (in terms of star power) than this one. But I agree it's comparable
After planning to see this and then having to change trip dates --- I don't feel quite as bad as I have been feeling. NPH is, to me, quite annoying on stage and I would not have been thrilled to encounter him in that role. I hope he will do well as this is a truly sterling cast. But Borle is an amazing performer and I can only imagine what he would have brought to the role. I hope he gets to do the role some day.
Count me among the disappointed. I didn’t buy my ticket for Borle specifically and wouldn’t have minded most of the likely replacements I can think of, but NPH is one of the few actors who can repel me from a project. I definitely don’t blame the people jumping ship and selling their tickets. This feels like a terrible bait and switch. I’m hoping he’ll surprise us and drop his schtick to turn in a decent performance. But I’m skeptical considering the short rehearsal period. Damn, and I was hoping that Borle might finally be the first Baker since Chip Zien that I enjoy.
i’m not sure how to feel about this. I brought tickets to this mostly for Sara and Heather. I didn’t think I had strong feelings about Borle or NPH, but I did frown at this news. It's not going to ruin the experience for me, but the only musical theatre stuff I've seen from NPH is Company. Wasn't impressed.
I never used to mind NPH. Found him vaguely annoying generally, but enjoyed his Hedwig just fine (though he was blown out of the water by Michael C. Hall, and then again by John Cameron Mitchell). Then I met him in person and BOY has that tainted his image for the worse for me. Can’t stand him for even a second anymore.

He is, indeed, insufferable.
Listen, I don't take my clothes off for anyone, even if it is "artistic". - JANICE
Got tickets back in the fall as the big birthday gift for my daughter, who is a HUGE Christian Borle (and Into the Woods) fan. He was the absolute draw and why she really wanted to see this production, and has been looking forward to it for months.
This was made worse, unfortunately, by an April Fools' prank that I played on my kid - who has tricked me many times on April Fools' Days past. I sent her a text on April 1 saying, "Unfortunate news - Christian Borle dropped from Into the Woods, to be replaced by Reeve Carney. Should I get a refund?" She was like, "Oh my god, what happened? Why did he leave the show? I am so disappointed!" Then - "APRIL FOOLS!" Ha! We both laughed.
Yeah, not so funny now, and I would not have expected this in a million years. Feeling like the bad mom here and hate to have to deliver the news that he's been replaced for real this time. I don't have a problem with NPH, but she was so looking forward to seeing CB. Wah!

Judging by how you act toward people on here, your parents can write the forward.

They should’ve gotten Sara’s best friend Gavin Creel
