I saw Deborah Cox's name being thrown around in another thread (all speculation, of course). Since reading that, I can't get the idea out of my head. I LOVE Deborah Cox, and would pay top dollar just to see her read the phone book.

Arielle jacobs popped in my mind not too long ago. She’d be a great satine!

My vote is for Ciara Renée or MJ Rodriguez! They're both super cool women of color who have the perfect star quality and confidence the role exudes. Also I second Ashley de la Rosa - she would be amazing in the role!

Ashley De La Rosa was the standby for Regina in Mean Girls and she was phenomenal. Star quality to spare. She'd be a great Satine."
This is an inspired idea. She'd be incredible.
I don't see the producers spending any money on a "name" at this point- neither Olivo or Tveit got butts in the seats, it was the material, and will continue to be. I'd love to see someone like De La Rosa or Ciara Renee (whose career deserves a post-Covid bump).
The spectacle of the show is the star. They don’t need a name to increase costs. I’ve never had a good experience seeing Deborah Cox live. I’d never pay to see her again. Saw her in J & H and Bodyguard. Flat, off key and marking her choreography.
"The sexual energy between the mother and son really concerns me!"-random woman behind me at Next to Normal
"I want to meet him after and bang him!"-random woman who exposed her breasts at Rock of Ages, referring to James Carpinello
I know nothing about either of them, but the simplest solution for the show might be to promote the standby (Ashey Loren) or the understudy (Amber Ardolino) if the actresses are interested and have done well when/if they went on. Has anybody seen either of them?

Oh I love the idea of Ciara Renee! She got, what? 3 weeks to star in Frozen? That’s terrible. It would be awesome if she got to come back to Broadway in an even juicier role. She’s great. And was the best part of The Wrong Man at MCC, despite having maybe 10 minutes onstage.
So, for Satine: my top picks are Ciara Renee, Ashley De La Rosa, and Jasmine Cephas Jones. In no particular order. Each would be great.
As much as I’d love Solea Pfeiffer and I know she’d be stunning in Moulim Rouge, that girl is always in demand. She does show, after show, after show. I think after building up such an impressive resume thus far she’d want her Broadway debut to be in her own original role. Which she deserves. Almost Famous will likely be that moment for her and it will be a great arrival of an already acclaimed actress making her mark on Broadway at last.
