I Know It's Today

wow, I loved it. Really smart, funny lyrics, catchy tune. ...and sounds like Sutton will be perfect for this role (unlike her role in Young Frankenstein, which seemed illsuited for her). Can't wait to see it now.
Thanks for sharing, though I have to admit that it gave me a headache. The first two girls that sing are awful.

Ten effin' seconds? That's all we get on the download?
That song is pretty bad...banal and totally uninventive.
Sutton sounds fantastic as usual though.
i dunno what all the hate is for...
it sounds cute, and having seen it live, it works as a wonderful song within the show, one of it's many highlights!
:)
it is a great musical theatre song...
1. It continues the story, and introduces us to the character of Fiona
2. It makes some cute jokes, that get a good reaction from the audience, and sets up some foreshadowing
3. It is a catchy tune, that I sang as I walked out of the theatre
4. It is inventive by having all three sing at once, instead of just having sutton belt out a song about her "want"
what else do you want?
I agree that Sutton sounds great, as usual.
That said, I wanted to like it, but kind of hate it.

This is just the orchestra test that was released ages ago.
I don't quite understand how this works within the context of the show, but I didn't like it. It certainly doesn't make me want to see the show. Still, most people I know at home in Seattle who saw it enjoyed it, so I'll probably go eventually.
i have had this since beginning of august and it definately grows on you.
it also works very well in the show (i saw 4 performances and 3 rehearsals and attended classes with Tesori and Justin Greer.)

This seems like the type of number you enjoy more if you actually see it performed in the context of the entire show. To just listen to it randomly----it's a disjointed piece of singing/narrative---(altho' Sutton's voice is beautiful, as usual)
Wow.
More SHREK hate.... what's new?
nothing changes.
- "Wow. More SHREK hate.... what's new?"
I'm not sure who that's directed to or why I really feel the need to defend my opinion ( I don't and I didn't say anything offensive), but since I did have a negative response to the song, I feel compelled to clear my name just in case:
Sutton is wonderful (as always). The song just didn't appeal to me, personally, because the young ladies singing before her sound fairly awful and the lyrics were cringe-inducing at times (see: "seem a bit bipolar" to "very gifted bowler!").
Doesn't mean I have anything against the show. No "SHREK hate" here. I wish the production all the best, actually.
Just didn't like the song so much, that's all.

not directed at you Higgins.
Thanks, PSlove! I'm glad. I was concerned that I was being perceived as one of the flamers or haters of this show because of my reaction to the song. I just didn't want to be misunderstood.
Thanks, balto! So far I'm on the fence with all the songs I have. But it may grow on me
I didn't want to start another thread, but is something going bad with Shrek. Chester Gregory's facebook status hints something has changed.
Chester Gregory is devastated & will miss his former cast mates...
A random question I was going to post in the new thread before it was deleted: Sutton got a new song during the Seattle run? What?

It was a short reprise of "Morning Person," the morning after her "who could love a hideous beast" chat with Donkey. Before that, it was a reprise of "When Words Fail."

Actually, I really like the singer who plays teen Fiona. I think that she has a lot of potential.
And, yes, that "bipolar" lyric just kills me.

I only listened to the song once, yesterday, but struck me this morning that it is kinda a rip off (and a B-version, at that) of Happily Ever After from Once Upon A Mattress.
