It's non-linear but there are some recognizable scenes if you're familiar with the play. It would probably be good to at least read a synopsis if you aren't already familiar with it since it will definitely enhance the experience, but I don't think it's 100% necessary.
Wear comfortable shoes. I've seen women stumbling around in stiletto heels on multiple occasions and it doesn't look like a lot of fun.

Posted: 6/23/14 at 7:45pmFrom reviews I have seen it sounds like there is much nudity and intimacy during the show. Is this a bad show to take my girlfriend to? Would either of us feel any jealousy from the general show or the 1 on 1s?

My one-on-one was highly sexual in nature. My husband would have been very jealous had he known what had transpired behind closed doors. As for myself, it left me completely satisfied and craving a cigarette.

I'll find a Cliff's Notes somewhere!
And it sounds like if I *do* wear stillettos, I might have even more fun.

Bump! We just went for our 3rd time this past Sunday eve. As usual, every time I think I've got the floor plans worked out in my head, I end up coming upon rooms I had no idea were there, and passageways I never found before. (How did I miss that long back staircase to the ballroom that pops you out behind the banquet table till now?)
Question for the veteran viewers of this show: Has there always been a same-sex pairing in the long ballroom dance sequence? For the life of me I don't know how I would have missed catching that before. I think the pairing was MacDuff with the male witch-- great dance work that impelled me to follow the male witch for much of the rest of the evening. (Shortish guy that night with dark hair and goatee, I think one of the swings for the part.)
Cheered to see how meticulously the performances and set details are maintained after all these years. Also cheered to finally locate that shower moment for the male witch following the rave. (If you can't be a little prurient at SLEEP NO MORE, then what's the point of it all, I ask you?)

In a few Fridays, I will attend an 8:00 PM performance of Fun Home and then head down to the McKittrick for the late showing of Sleep No More. I know that Fun Home ends about 9:40. My questions are these:
-Is it better to taxi or take public transit down to the McKittrick at that time of evening?
-If we plan on having dinner at the Heath beforehand, do you think we lose out on much of the show by opting for a later entrance time?
-Is it even reasonable to make a 10:00 PM dinner reservation at the Heath after Fun Home?
Thanks in advance for your input!

I would make the reservation for closer to 10:15. When I saw home on a Friday night, by the time I got out to the street it was nearly 9:50. I would then advise a cab to get down to the McKittrick as soon as possible, as the experience from the moment you walk in the door is extensive and wonderful and you want the most amount of time possible in the space in its entirety (it's about 23 blocks from the Circle in the Square, or three stops south on the subway plus a short walk… a cab can drop you off right outside the hotel). I'd advise drinks before, dinner afterward - but that's just me.
I believe the late start time on Fridays is 11PM, so I'm presuming you have that check-in time. The story or cycle loops three times roughly over three hours, and if you start late you will start in the middle of the cycle and lose that time, so the experience is entirely up to you if that is your check-in time.

By definition later entrance times mean a shorter period inside the world of sleep no more and less opportunity to discover things.

Here's a question from me for the Sleep No More pros: on June 5th, every single check-in time is sold-out. I haven't seen something like this on their calendar is quite some time so far in advance. Is something special happening that day?

I was wondering the same thing. I've not seen any special event advertised for that time.

Perhaps a company with deep pockets bought out the night.

Thanks for the information, GL. We did do dinner at the Heath last summer beforehand. It was such a good way to start the evening that I'd like to do it again. I'm just doing cost/benefit analysis of losing some time inside the performance.

If you do have dinner beforehand and tell them you're headed down to the show afterwards, they'll make every effort to get you there in time.

Thank you. As it turns out, when you're dining beforehand, they just give you a flexible entrance time. The kind folks at guest services noted that we'd be welcome to enter the performance any time between 11:00 and Midnight.

I heard about this from a friend and am considering catching it on my upcoming September trip. I'll be by myself though. Would the experience be hampered by going alone? Normally going to the theater by myself is my jam but I've never been to an interactive show of this nature. Not sure I can imagine wandering through by myself. But I'm very intrigued and not sure even my friends who I usually visit NY with would really be down for this so thinking of giving it a shot.

It's much easier to go through by yourself than with someone else. Every time I've gone with friends, we've all agreed that it's fine if we split up, and we have -- and it's much easier to do your own thing that way. Don't worry at all about going alone.

Sorry, one more question.
Is it safe to do a late show and then catch a cab/walk to the subway alone? I just looked up where this is and realized I've never been there. I generally feel pretty safe in most areas of Manhattan and have no issue walking alone at night since there are usually so many people around but I'm not familiar with this neighborhood and don't want to do anything stupid. Im also usually walking alone at like midnight as opposed to 2 or 3 am...

All the shows end at the same time. It wouldn't be 2 or 3 a.m. unless you stuck around at the bar for hours on end (and I'm not sure when the bar itself shuts down). Walking alone, you should be fine. It's a bit of a walk, but straightforward.

Cool thanks. I was looking at one of the Saturday night 11pm/midnight showings, since that way I could get down there after hedwig. (I'm otherwise booked for the weekend already, except a matinee which obviously I can't fill with this. :).). That's why I was figuring 2 or 3 am.
I always feel like there are no bad areas left in Manhattan but I don't really feel like being proven wrong when I'm by myself at 2 am...

Oh right! I forgot about those, sorry. I've only done it on the weekdays. I'd say walk with other people leaving around the same time you are, then.
