MJ canceled an hour before curtain because most of the cast called out. They were prepared to do the matinee with some workers at the theater since 9am.

The Broadway League isn’t some external, independent body. It’s make up of the producers themselves.

So Wicked made the cast and crew come in, and then made some poor delivery guy deliver pizza in the storm for them. Amazing.

I remember Wicked blew out a few years ago due to heavy storm, they simply did another matinee on a Friday to cancel out the missed show, I went to the rescheduled show and the main leads were off.

To be fair, there IS a pizza place right on the corner of 8th... 😂

Intermission at Wicked, house is nearly sold out except for the back two rows of the Orchestra. Wondeful performances by the entire cast, espacially Jennafer Newberry as Glinda.

apparently Chicago was almost sold out, which is why they refused to cancel. Money talks...

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

I think the sensible thing to do here is to cancel shows during blizzards, but for producers to not have to pay anyone for the missed performance.  That way the workers don’t complain about their lives being in danger, and producers don’t have to take the hit.  Or to just reschedule an additional performance the following week and not have to pay anyone extra

Not every Broadway producer is a member of the Broadway league, nor can they force producers to do what they want.  So no, their employer is not the Broadway league.

The Broadway league doesn’t make the rules.  If the league recommends the shows cancel, but the producers of Chicago want the show to go on, that’s their prerogative, not up to the Broadway league.

Four Broadway shows scheduled for tonight: Chicago, Six, Gatsby & Maybe Happy Ending. NJ Transit trains not operating at the moment and bus service is very limited due to icy conditions.

It's terrible out there. The sidewalks where I am are essentially clean, but the roads are awful. I was debating trying for Gatsby rush, but I may just lay low today because of that, and it being so cold.

“Fired” does sound aggressive. Their contracts weren’t renewed so to many, this implies that they were “fired.”
