Absolutely shameful behaviour from the league and producers. I’m glad actors are calling them out. I stand with all theatre workers who’s safety should be paramount during a storm like this.
Shame on the league. Shame on any production running today. Shame on their greed. Shame.

According to a cast member’s social post, WICKED’s matinee was at 21% capacity today.
Must be nice for The Broadway League execs and producers to make this call from inside their dry, warm, penthouses.
Inexcusable.

The broadway league can’t really force shows to close tho right? Don’t they just provide guidance? People pointing at them as the boogy man is absurd. If you’re mad, be mad at your employer. It’s just their way of doing that without having to mention the boss, so they’ll blame this other organization on the side.

Seems like & Juliet is still happening tonight. This should be interesting. And now since this is my 2nd time seeing it during something unusual, I am not allowed to see it ever again. My first time was when the city was covered in smoke from Canada. Fun times.

The Broadway League is made up of their employers. It is not some other organization on the side: it is the trade organization that runs Broadway's business.

I was at Marjorie Prime this afternoon. Thankfully June Squibb did NOT perform this afternoon. Her understudy we good. I was in the last row of the Mezz and it was fairly full, but I did not see the Orchestra section.
We lucked into a 6:30p Oh Mary tickets. Curious how that is going to go.

The League isn’t a neutral messenger. It’s the coordinated public voice of the producers and theatre owners, and its storm day statements set the industry’s posture whether they mandate anything or not. Producers stay silent, the League defines the narrative, and that’s why the criticism lands there instead of at twenty different individual employers.

Literally the 5 shows that absolutely have the funds to cancel a performance. That's disgusting.

Chicago cast members were told to stop posting on IG about the snow/Broadway League thing/wanting to cancel. one of the six fired cast members will probably post something after the evening show.
