It’s just so bafflingly stupid. Who is the League beholden to that is keeping them from doing the right thing here?
Transit is in the process of being shut down and there are SoEs for both NJ and NY. The first matinees are scheduled to begin in roughly 3 hours. Who is going to risk it to show up and perform to an 80% empty house?
Ex: Is Second Stage really going to have 96-year old June Squibb, who uses a walker/cane for assistance, go out in over a foot of snow to be driven to a theatre to perform to a smattering of patrons?

The 3 friends I know who work in Broadway shows and don’t live in Manhattan and are working today already made housing arrangements in the city in case everything shuts down. I’m sure many others did the same. They’ve been in the city since their last performance last night to avoid headaches today.

The cast and crew of Chicago was offered hotels for tonight. Producers should pay for their accommodations, mind you, shows will be at 20-30% capacity.

They might be in a hotel, but they've still gotta go out in the extreme cold, walk thru the snow and on the ice.
this is a bad storm. It is shameful and it makes no sense when the mayor is saying to stay home.

^^ This.
Frostnip can set in very quickly. When I was in last night, I only had a 3 block walk from City Center to my car and by the time I got to my car, I could not feel my nose. (It took about 20 minutes in the heat of my car for it to recover)

I have early rheumatism (runs in my family and sadly also symptomatic of the high level hormone my brain tumor produces) and walking has been very difficult. My feet, even with double socks and shoes, ache after only a few blocks in this cold. I know that other people deal with different things too.
it all just seems idiotic. Are we really going to make dancers risk slipping too?
Wicked has officially posted that both shows will go on as usual.

I understand the city can't shut down 100%.
I get hotels and restaurants, and many stores should be open - even if it's a hardship for their employees to travel.
I see the snow accumulations in Manhattan are under 2 inches at the moment.
But as much as I love theater it's not required today. By the time matinees get out every person coming out of a theater will be at risk.
It's insanity.

yes, production has done this in the past. but why should they have to when the theaters will be playing to nearly empty houses today?

I think the question is what does shutting down do to a show financially? Yes there are Disney scenarios where the shows are long running hits and it is a corporation that can afford a shut down but the shows that live week to week on their grosses might find this difficult to overcome. Does insurance kick in only after two performances and can it be used if this isn't a government or industry mandate?

I would have expected bigger discounts, these are the standard discounts at TKTS. Chess on their Instagram says they will perform as scheduled. I am not seeing any Instagram discounts for the handful of shows I have looked up so far.

Telecharge must be getting an influx of refunds and exchanges. I called earlier and was on hold for 45 minutes to exchange my Two Strangers tix. Finally used the option to get a call back but haven't received it yet

The Shed announced they are closed today, along with a number of other Off Broadway venues.

I was on hold with them for over an hour last week when there wasn’t a snowstorm. I finally did the callback option. They never called back.
I don’t have instagram: who wrote this? Allie Trimm? If so, good for her.
I have tickets to the 1p Hamilton this afternoon - surprised it’s still going on with this weather. I’ll report back on overall experience. From my Times Square hotel room window, it’s pretty gnarly. I’m a native Minnesotan, though, so I’m prepared to brave the storm.

I'm in the same boat with the evening performance of & Juliet. It is really bad out. I walked over to BroadwayCon from my hotel. Will be interesting if shows do decide to cancel the evening, if they have both going on.

AFTER cast and customers left the safety of their homes. So wrong!

Can they cancel and reschedule for tomorrow? It’s sad cause it’s the last day of the week, they should be able to consider a Monday performance for this week to make up for the missed performance today. This is why shows are still going on today because actors equity is not flexible. Leads producers to keep the show going because some money is better than no money.

I cannot believe they waited until 2 hours before curtain! After cast, crew, and patrons started their trek into the city!!. This should have been called HOURS ago (for all shows)
