I definitely need to see him go on as Chip or Mitch!
Excellent sentences tonight to describe the audience spellers. Lisa and Greg were on top of their game, some of the best I've heard!
Can you give examples? Is that allowed or would it be considered a 'spoiler?'
Oy, I don't know if I can remember them!
Mr. Math, who had friends Mr. Reading and Mr. Social Studies. And also captain of the Moustache club at school (which I'd heard before).
Mr. Bunch... who had a big long intro- So this one day when this lady met this fellow, and they knew that it was much more than a hunch.... something that ended with Mr. Kumgee (?) Bunch.
There was a woman whose shirt had indian type designs, so she traded 2 ears of some corn and her mocassins (or something like that) for her shirt.
I can't remember the rest, and those are only partly the right words, but damn they were funny. I was very impressed.
This may seem like a dumb question but i was wondering if they do all of the improv themselves or if the people that round up the spellers write it for them?
I'm not sure, though I think Lisa and Greg do most if not all of it. The people who pick the spellers definitely try to find unique names, funny clothes/appearances, or total tourists. And cute kids.
Dang I wish I could lotto just once!
Are Celia and Jesse on vacation? When are they back?
They were both in tonight. Everyone was there.
Hey Liotte- I was there last night too! I liked Mrs Wolple I think her name was, the one whose sentence was something about how she's good on the balance beam because "Wolples wobble but they don't fall down." :)
Does Jesse Tyler Ferguson usually come out after the show? My friend wanted to do the stage door thing, so we hung out for a bit, but I didn't see Jesse (I totally have a crush on Leaf Coneybear).
(spoilerish) question for you:
what is the word that they use after catterjunes? (I'm trying to figure out if it's a real word or not, but I never remember what it is.)
Wolple! That was it, so cute!!
Jesse usually comes out, he said he had something to do last night though.
And I'll PM you the word so as not to ruin it for all.

Oh my gosh, I was there last night too, and I it was so hilarious!! I loved all the funny audience participation parts- so great! I can't believe Mr. Bunch got "catterjunes" right! And I think the older lady was like 2 thundersticks and fire whiskey or something. Haha. Brilliance. I am so glad I finally got to see Spelling Bee and join this love thread! I too was a little bummed that Jesse and Celia never came out last night, but I'll just have to write them.

My experience has been that actors may actually blend with audience after show so well that some times they actually slip by unnoticed if you are engaged with another cast member. Also post someone at both main entrance and real stagedoor.
They came out you just missed them.
Oooh, Jay is coming back for Sunday's Adult show!! Yay!!!
I just bought tickets to see the show tomorrow night! Yay!
Liotte, your should try to see the show next Saturday afternoon, Feb 4th.
You'll see a bunch of teenage girls wearing their hair in half-pigtails and also t-shirts with Celia's face lol.
And I swear I saw you at either the past Broadway Barks or the Flea Market.
Tomorrow is Celia's birthday!
I REALLY want to see it!!!! I hope there's still tickets left for San Francisco, or else my chances aren't good.
LilDiva,
I will be at the adult show on the 5th, so I don't think I will be there on the 4th... Sorry!!
Fun show tonight, Todd was in as Barfee, which I was very pleased to see!
Dan's last show tonight was great, lots of crying by everyone, with speeches by James Lapine, Dan, and Sarah Saltzberg at the end. Very moving!
Good luck to you Dan in all your endeavors!

I was there as well. Celia was bawling by the end of the show. I constantly saw her wiping her eyes. Dan also shed a few tears. He referred to his real mom a lot during the show which was sweet. It was cool to see James Lapine in person. Overall great show.
I wish I had been there!! Spelling Bee is one of my favorite shows, and Dan Fogler is just...unbelievable!! He will be missed!
I am going to the next Adults Only show...cause I just can't help myself! lol
They were all crying, at the end when they folded up the Spelling Bee banner, they were all wiping their eyes on it.
I'll be at the next adult one as well (is it this sunday already? sheesh!).
I met Josh, the new Barfee, he's very nice and we chatted for a bit. I'm looking forward to seeing him in the role!
For bee fans only- PM me if you want to *see* the speeches from tonight.
