I was not only extremely disappointed with him but just downright mad about it. These people have worked so damn hard and been wonderful, it's his fault they are leaving, and he couldn't care less.
Tonight's goodbye was tearful and very emotional. Bill Finn gave a wonderful speech (despite dropping the F bomb a couple times), he had great things to say about everyone who was leaving.
The Spelling Bee family is very special, and I wish them all the best in all their future endeavors. I'll miss them very much and am looking forward to seeing the OBC in LA.
Wishing the best of luck to the new cast coming to Broadway on Tuesday!
Thanks to those special people in the Bee (you know who you are) for truly being amazing and incredible people.
The wife and I won the lotto on Saturday 4/14/07 and wow, what a great show. I had heard so many wonderful things so it was a real treat to finally see it. Can't wait to see it again. My rear end was a bit sore by the end. The bench seats for lotto winners is a great price and view but your bum starts to feel it by the end. Who cares, It was worth it

answer, and the H in ghost, and the extra A in aardvark, and the T in listen, you could keep saying WHAT but no one would ever hear you because the whole word would be silent."

I was listening to the cast recording today, and it hit me that they're all gone now. Yes, they're going to be together in LA but it's not the same. I adore the new cast, but the OBC was just so special. Seeing the show with them is one of the greatest nights in the theatre I have ever experienced. They've been gone for a few days now, but it just hasn't hit me like it did today.
Hmm, now that you mention it, it is a little different - still adorable, but different. It's also kind of interesting that there's a conversation on Stanley's hair going on that I didn't start...
I was searching some Bee stuff, and I found a post made by liotte way back when, when she had just seen the show for the first time (I think) and asked if, when the last audience member gets a seemingly hard word right, and then gets immediatly called back up again, happens at every performance.
It's funny to think that she was a Bee Noob once. I kind of just assumed she was born with all the Bee knowladge she posseses.
Seriously, though, I adore him as a tv personality, love him on all of the "I Love the 80s/I Love the 90s" shows, etc.
But I went to adult night on Sunday- first time seeing the new cast, including Rocca- and I just do not get the big deal about Rocca. He just doesn't seem to be in a very comfortable with the rolling with the punches adlib that you need with Panch, especially when dealing with audience members spelling. (Especially when someone has the bright idea to have two strippers from (Scores?) as two of the four adult night audience spellers. That is an idea that can just die before the next Bee adult night.) There was just too much of a making it up as he goes along vibe from Rocca, rather than an in-control-ness that the other Panches had, if that makes any sense. AND- there were too many choking on the definitions/sentences from Rocca too- I'm not one to complain because "OMG I've seen the show a jillion times, and he missed one word in the definition of one of the words" or whatever, but it just kills the punchline of the sentences when you stop mid-sentence and start over.
With that said, I enjoyed the new cast ok. The originals will always hold the top spot for me, of course, but I liked how the new cast looks a little younger than the originals, and I loved Jennifer Simard's voice (don't like her better or worse than Lisa Howard, just different), but I really don't get what all the Rocca fuss is about.
Random, and a bit tangential, but there's a video on CNN.com right now that features the capybara. (If the link doesn't work, you can find it on the CNN.com "Offbeat" page, if it moves from the homepage before then.) monkeys and large rodents
