I WOULD LOVEEEEEEE a Spice Girl Musical!...I mean come on guys if you can have musicals about Jerry Springer then why not have one about The Spice Girls, it would definatly give Brooklyn a run for its money. Id be going every week to see the Spice Girl Musical haha. WOAH!!! GIRL POWER!
I knew this was going to happen sooner or later. All my ideas get stolen. Mine wasn't going to be about the spice girls though it was just going to use their song catalogue. I already have a rough draft written out. it's called SATURDAY NIGHT DIVAS and it's about a group of women that go out to party every Saturday night... (duh...)

Enough already!
"And Chisholm is convinced a musical about the pop five-piece's heyday would be equally successful."
The first fifteen-minute musical in Broadway history.

Oh. My. God. She called it a "soundtrack."
"by the way ....mel b was terrible in RENT when i saw her...even tho i dont know if she lost her voice that night."

well if there can be a musical with ABBA songs, then there should be a Spice Girl musical. i think it could possibly be very fun... it could tell their story, like DreamGirls sorta.. but comedy.. lol.. I'd love it! Mel B isnt that bad of a singer, RENT was just way too high for her.. she rocked on low stuff like Goodbye Love, I should tell you and Without you...
I am not even going to lie, the SPICE GIRLS movie is a guilty pleasure of mine. There, I said it. But, a musical.....no!! I just have one thing to say, though.
"So, tell me what ya want. What ya really, really want"
ABBA- a great band with some staying power
Spice Girls- Two years in the public eye, and all their songs were about girl power...?????
If anyone has a shotgun handy can they send it to me...never mind, I'll just go poison myself.
WHAT IS MY DEAR OLD BROADWAY COMING TO?????????? *sob* *sob*
What ever happened to writing an origonal, intelligent piece of theater?
Okay, I'm better... seriously though, I doubt It'll ever happen
Which girl was she? I never knew any of their real names.
ok so i will admit i kinda like their music. its got a decent beat and you can dance to it. im a little scared about a musical based on any aspect of the spice girls. however i will be first in line to get the cast recording :)

SHOULD be?? Why? They didn't bring anything that unique in the music scene. Sure, there was all that GirlPower thing, but was that really a new thing after, say, Madonna?

Are we seriously judging this? Anyone who liked Mamma Mia, All Shook Up, or Good Vibrations (I left out Movin' Out because Twyla Tharp gives it some artistic merit) can just get off their high horse right now and quit bitching. The way you people talk about this is as if it represents the death of musical theater. If it survived the above musicals, than it can certainly survive this. The Spice Girls catalogue in my opinion is much less hit and miss than ABBA's (granted that is because their music is so formulaic, yet fun) and relatively conducive to a storyline as Spice World demonstrated. Also did anyone see the Spice Girls movie? That was essentially a jukebox musical in movie form except is was more fun and cohesive than any jukebox musical out there that I have seen. Until jukebox musicals are taken off Broadway, I see no reason for this not to exist.
Haha, o wow...
I really don't know what to think about that.
I love the Spice Girls' movie, by the way.
As do many theatre/film majors at Emerson College.
Haha.

I would see it. Again. And again. Many times. The SPICE GIRLS are an embarassing part of my youth and a HUGE guilty pleasure of mine.
*raises hand* ooo! shoot me too! shoot me too!
j/k... but this is the most absurd and disturbing thing i've ever seen...
I totally still listen to them, haha.
And I know I'm not the only one!

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
Probably because the Spice Girls "catalogue" is a leaflet in comparison to ABBA. ABBA has been (and still is) the number one selling pop group in the world. I'm just guessing, but that *may* have something to do with the success of Mamma Mia.
Spice Girls came and went in the blink of an eye and have been almost completely forgotten. I only remember If You Wanna Be My Lover and that's it. Do they even have enough songs in their leaflet to fill a score?
Haha if they ever made this I would probably feel that I had to go see it because I had my Spice Girls phase of obsession for a year or so. :-P But honestly, I just dont understand how there could be any plot or point behind this besides seeing 5 girls doing syncronized dancing and pop singing for 2 hours. More or less, a concert. They need to come up with some better, more intellectually stimulating ideas.
