i don't remember it with the drums in the show.....this isn't the full orchestra right? Is the full orchestra on the obc?

Wow, is that the version they are playing on Idol tonight?
Should have done if the world should end with Jenn Damiano. She's 300x better.
Why is this so whiny and emo?
(Then again, I saw Matthew James Thomas.)
I like it but i wish it had just been the song from the show, is it just me or is it just the chorus thats the same?
ok... i like it but it sounds NOTHING like that on stage. aside from the obvious of Bono singing i mean.
I dont get why they have re written the whole song for this release and just kept the chorus? the song in the show is great it did not need messing with.
As for Carney and his singing and the 'emo' comment, i love his voice, it has passion and its unpolished its raw. It's nice to hear a voice that is not theatre trained singing this kind of score.
Wait so the single released tonight is "Rise Above 1," as in there is going to be a "Rise Above 2" ?
Honestly i don't want a version with Bono and The Edge. I want the original song from the show that has T.V. Carpio and Reeve Carney singing.
And I agree with the poster above me, I LOVE Reeve's voice. It is just so unique and perfect for this score.

I assume the other Rise Above will be the one from the show.
Put me in the camp of people that enjoy Reeve's voice as well, but I would rather hear the show version than this one.
I actually really like this version, which is cool cuz I usually dislike Bono's music.
I really like this version as well but yes, I wish they would sing the show version tonight on IDOL as well!
Does anybody have the official track listing of the cast recording?

It's just a song. The "real" version Will be out later. It's just a single. Why does it have to be from the show?
So far there's no track list, kyl3fong2.
I'm curious to know if the cast recording will be 14 tracks in addition to the bonus track or 14 tracks total including the bonus track. I'm thinking "I'll Take Manhattan" and "Sinisterio" will definitely be left off the recording. Maybe even "Freak Like Me" depending on when they recorded.

Wow, even BONO couldn't make that song sound good on IDOL.
Rather poor showing.
I really hope that "Freak Like Me" is on the OBCR. That song is really growing on me...lol
Did they have a concept album before this?
Im hoping its the Cast i dont wanna hear bono
This track reminds me of a couple of years ago when Frank Wildhorn's "Rudolf - The Last Kiss" premiered in Vienna starring Drew Sarich... They released an acoustic, dance and radio cut of one of the show's most dramatic numbers "I Was Born to Love You" which was entirely sappy and atrocious, but was fine on the regular cast recording!
That was such a terrible representation of the show on Idol tonight. Reeve wasn't really needed at all. I have to say, when I saw him in the show, he was the weak link of the "leads" His voice was nice but the diction and acting was on the verge of awful.
God, Bono is still one of the hottest men on earth.
@JerBearLuv--- I agree. I don't want a concept album either.

they should do the whole show not just 14 songs.
^
They're only leaving off a few songs. Get over it. I'm excited that we're getting anything at all.
