I complete concur PR. Grammar and spelling can be fixed, I really don't know if Spiderman can. Of course, I'm still hoping to go see it again on the 29th. I want to see it again before someone's Spidey Sense takes over and realizes that the show is going to hemorrhage money.
Show's I've Seen: 2011: American Idiot, Lombardi, Screwtape Letters, Adams Family, Imaginocean, Phantom - 2010: Spiderman, A Little Night Music, Bloody, Bloody Andrew Jackson, La Cage aux Faux, Next to Normal (twice), Fanny (City Center), Next Fall, - 2009: Finian's Rainbow, Let Me Down Easy, Toxic Avenger, Hair, Mary Stuart, 9 to 5, Avenue Q (a few times), Young Frankenstein, Cry Baby, Applause (City Center), Xanadu, Legally Blond, Glorious Ones, Gutenberg: The Musical, Spring Awakening, Company, Dessa Rose, Jersey Boys, The Color Purple, Taboo, Altar Boys, Lestat, The Weddings Singer, Hairspray, Spamalot, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Wicked, Brooklyn, Urinetown, 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Grey Gardens, Drowsy Chaperon, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Les Miserable, Aida, Great American Trailer Park Musical, Into The Woods, Naked Boys Singing, Cabaret, Last Five Years, Jekyll & Hyde, Corpus Christi, Side Show, Rent (a few times), Footloose, and Ragtime (First Broadway Show I saw).
And the sad thing is, is that this show (no matter how bad it is by opening) will prolly dominate the box office at least for a few months, simply by the fact that it has created such a huge buzz around itself. If the show ends up fixing all its problems (score, book) by opening and it is a actual BROADWAY show then the Theme Park Attraction wannabe it is at this point then I'll gladly root for it, but as of right now...it's a sad, sad thing.

Hmmm I would have to disagree. Like I said, at this point, the show is a hot mess (IMO) and if it stays like this then yea, it's a sad thing. Again, hopefully they will turn things around before opening.

No tourist is seeing this for the artistic merit. It is clearly marketed for tourists and no matter how bad it may be, the tourist crowd will eat it up. The same people who keep WICKED selling to capacity every single night 7 years after opening. Big sets, recognizable names, New York City. That's all they care about. So as sad as it is for those of you hoping to see this fail, I don't think you're going to get your wish of it closing anytime soon.

Only if they like it. Several reports here and elsewhere have pointed to people walking out, sleeping in the second act, restive children disappointed in the second act, etc. These reactions are not those likely to provide the good word of mouth needed to prompt others to rush to see this show. Shows like "Mamma Mia" and "Wicked" have that word of mouth. Of course, "Spider-man" might make the necessary improvements to get it, and let's hope they do.

I think it's bad to generalize. That's not all they care about. They want good shows, just like native New Yorkers. And not all tourists seek the same thing.
I wasn't saying the people who keep WICKED open have bad taste. I meant that there's undeniably something to the fact that it sells out every single night. It's a tourist trap. Just like SPIDER-MAN will be. There may be some bad word of mouth, but there's going to be some great word of mouth as well.
It would be nice if the creative team cared enough to actually improve what needs improving on their show, but I think they're more concerned about getting it to consistently run smoothly so they can start their 8 show weeks and rake in the cash. That's the nature of the beast. And I'm still just as excited as I have been the last couple years to see this tomorrow night.
That song that Jen sings and 'The Boy Falls From The Sky' are the only two memorable songs from the show, but the sad thing is is that they come one after another and come in the second act.
Wow- there's an fyeah tumblr for EVERYTHING now, isn't there? That song is beautiful though. Idk when U2 changed from an actual rock band to adult easy listening, but it's very unfortunate.

Umm I highly doubt that is the only reason why WICKED is selling out...stop comparing Wicked and other shows that have become massive hits to Spiderman. Les Miz, POTO, Miss Saigon, Beauty and the Beast, Wicked and numerous other success stories are hits because they are shows that have great scores, relatable characters, intriguing stories and the bells and whistles that please the eyes. So far, Spiderman has none of those except the flashy stuff. If the difference between a flop and a success was only just the spectacle, then Tarzan, Dance of the Vamps, Women in White, Pirate Queen, Shrek, and numerous other flops would still be running today. The shows that are hits please both tourists and theater goers. Stop acting like snobs because you want to label certain shows "tourists traps"

Thanks for posting that. This song didn't really appeal to me at first listen, but I guess it's not as bad as I thought. Sounds like a song Sting might have written for a Bond movie.
In my opinion, the real gems in this musical are No More and Rise Above from the first act. I also liked Walk Away and Boy Falls.
ColorTheHours makes a great point. Shows like Wicked and Spiderman have recognizable characters everyone knows and loves and flashy design elements. The show will most likely do well not matter what the reviews are like.
"Wicked and numerous other success stories are hits because they are shows that have great scores" Wicked has a great score? The others do, but I think Wicked has one of the weakest scores on Broadway.

It's a matter of taste, but I think when the show is this large of a hit, has the fan base it has, songs that are becoming very well known outside of the theatrical fan base, then it at least deserves some credit. The 7 times I've seen the show (yea, I'm a WICKED fan...what a sin) I have seen many, many, many people in tears after "Defying Gravity" and after "For Good" Again, it is a matter of taste, I'm just saying that the show is more then just a "spectacle" like people on here try to pass it off as.
