Spring Awakening revival announcement tomorrow?

Wasn’t this rumored to be off Broadway at first ? Or was that just he who shall not be named?

They must have some very big names lined up for this, that's the only reason a revival would make any sense.

I thought I heard Sadie Sink... or am I getting my projects mixed up?

The only thing that would make me happier would be a next to normal announcement (I know it’s not happening).

There seems to be a lane for off bway, small but well-made revivals-- Little Shop, Heathers, Spelling Bee. Spring Awakening could make for a fine addition to that slot even without big names.

They just did one 10 years ago which met with universal acclaim, but closed after only 4 months. I wonder what names they got if this is actually true.

I'd certainly be curious to know how Heathers and Spelling Bee are doing financially.

Loved the original, loved the Deaf West revival, can’t wait to see this.

He-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named said it'll be an Off-Broadway production at Studio Seaview. He also said he heard Joe Locke was involved. I don't know that anyone would describe him as a very big name.

Joe Locke is huge for people of his generation because of Heartstopper. I didn't care much about him until he performed in Sweeney Todd and was just stunning in the role. Beautiful singer, much better than Gaten. So, if he's involved, this will be huge for young people, like the original was 20 years ago.
I've never seen any production of this, so I'm really looking forward to this if it does materialize.

Oh, I was mostly going by the fact that Clarkston sold poorly on the West End. But this is an ensemble, in a smaller theatre, and Spring Awakening, so it should be fine regardless.

Well I did hear they have a really good director attached…but I can’t say

Any production of Spring Awakening is exciting to me, and any possibility of seeing Joe Locke on Broadway again is also exciting, so count me as doubly excited now.
I can only see him as Moritz, but that might be clouded by his portrayal of somewhat diffident characters in Heartstopper and Sweeney Todd. Perhaps I'm wrong and he can pull off Melchior!

To be fair, the Deaf West revival was always intended to be a limited run. It just didn’t end up making any money.
