I bet the film starts with old Maria walking past the lincoln center.
If the order of the songs in that doc is accurate, the order is back to the Broadway recording which is interesting

I think it's an interesting idea if they have a young and Old Maria

It lists John Williams as a "Music Consultant". I'm assuming it's "that" John Williams (don't think they'd let another person use that name in a film music credit. Plus he regularly works with Spielberg). Spielberg clearly got people who know what they are doing to assist.

The music element of this movie is going to be incredible and one that doesn't have to rely on drastic cuts/gimmicks to make it work on film. Interestingly, the Wiki article says that the musical numbers will all be from pre-recorded tracks that were used for playback, with the exceptions being "One Hand, One Heart" which was fully sung live on set and portions of "Maria" which is something that Ansel Elgort wanted.
David Newman + Gustavo Dudamel + John Williams = amazing music team!

I wonder how crowded the Best Actress category will be this year

I hope the film's audience doesn't skew too old. I hope it does well at the box office

Do you think the movie will break even box office wise?
It might have a shot when it comes to the worldwide grosses, but in the US I don't know. That's kind of up in the air at the moment. Anyway, the new TV Spot was nice and I noticed that Tony is in The Cloisters, I'm guessing this is where Tony and Maria are on a date and will end up in the church where "One Hand, One Heart" will take place.
Other than The Greatest Showman, live action Disney adaptations of animated films, and Mary Poppins Returns, what was the last movie musical remake or stage-to-film adaptation to break even/make a profit?
Unless I’m forgetting something, I may have answered my own question. Was it Into The Woods (2014)?

The info packet has lots of great stories - particularly the bits talking about casting (around page 22?) A very nice read.
Yes, "old maria" is likely the start....a memory play, some of the credit (from the above packet) names movie posters from Marvel, so that's def how she is utilized. A well used trope.

Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again had a reported $75 million budget in 2018. They pulled in $120 million domestically and $402 million world wide
This baby just arrived on my doorstep!!! I can't wait to dive in!!

This film was an original movie musical. The question was regarding a movie musical remake or stage-to-musical, which MAMMA MIA! HERE WE GO AGAIN is neither.

So lucky Carlos!! I ordered mine from Amazon back in September and it’s not scheduled to be delivered until next week. Hoping that’s a mistake and it arrives this week!
As for box office, pre pandemic I’d say this movie would’ve made a profit domestically. Now, I don’t know. People are picky about what they see. If this is genuinely good and has positive buzz, then it might have a chance.

I hope it's an error and you get it this week! There are some really visually stunning photographs! You are going to love it!
The Jets walk through their neighborhood which has already fallen victim to the wrecking ball of urban renewal to clear the land for what is to become Lincoln Center...
Degrassi - check your Amazon order page - mine is scheduled for today delivery, too. (Of course, the state of all delivery services these days makes me less optimistic!)
