Rachel sounds amazing here, but I can only imagine how wonderful she sounds under Jeanine Tesori's vocal coaching. Hopefully I hope a trailer, even if it's a small teaser will be released soon.

If there's any question of the release date internally at Disney––and any question of reshooting the leading man's scenes––I would not expect a trailer anytime soon. I'm kinda doubtful multiplexes will be back up and running by Christmas...and if they are open, Disney could very well give up WSS's slot to another one of their delayed titles (Mulan, Soul, New Mutants, Death on the Nile).

I can’t see them giving up West Side Story’s slot for any of those four, as its way more anticipated than them. Especially New Mutants, which has been delayed enough that very few people care about it.

1. The entire Ansel Elgort cancellation attempt failed and fizzled in literally hours. The girl deleted her Twitter account and disappeared. Also, the only mention of any reshoot was on this board, nowhere else. Wasn’t even hinted nor suggested in the media. Just on this board.
2. Disney has zero to do with this film. Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment produced it and 20th Century Studios is distributing it.

Why are you even talking about that? It was a non event. It's done. There will be no re shoots, and never was there going to be. I am still confident that December will be the month it's released. If not, maybe early next Winter.
At the 30 minute mark, David Newman talks about his experience with the music of West Side Story and talks a tiny bit about his role in the upcoming film adaptation.

Yup. Many things resumed in June, especially all studio work. Film productions started up again a couple of weeks ago so I think it’s safe to assume they either finished or are very close.
Brody, I wonder where you get your info on LA film production. It certainly has NOT all started up again as a general statement.
The Disney project I was on when things shut down in March has talked of resuming in a week or so as long as we do it from HOME for at least the next 4-8 weeks. That's obviously not a viable way for most projects to come back. This town is still in general shutdown.
Steven Spielberg usually does a very good job with time period accuracy and judging from the pictures and filming footage, is that everyone involved with the design crew did a marvelous job. Even the building signs are very much of the time period it's taking place in (plus the 1951 Broadway poster of The King and I making a appearance is a lovely touch).
Yeah, production in LA has barely started back up. In fact many Disney film employees are still furloughed. The only things shooting now are mostly unscripted series. Also, yes WSS is a Fox production, but Disney employees are the ones working on it. Lastly, there are no plans to reshoot the movie at this moment, but we already knew this.
^Yep and for example, filming resumed for the Ryan Murphy film adaptation of The Prom very recently. Though I wonder what the status of this film is, because the Amblin' website removed the "Post Production" credit. So for all we know, it may be complete but Disney/20th Century Studios is waiting to see if they can release this in theaters on December 18th or put it on Disney+ on that day.
Either way, I'll be very happy to see this in any way shape or form.
I hope it doesn’t go to Disney+. There are some movies meant for the big screen, and I believe this is one of them. I feel like there is no way Disney would put this, Mulan and Soul on VOD or Disney+.

Excited to see this!
Just realized I was responding to a clip that was posted in March..."
This film is an adaptation of the original 1957 Broadway production so it takes place during that time period. This isn’t a remake of the 1961 film."
BrodyFosse dear it IS a remake of the 1961 film. As a matter of fact it is a remake of "West Side Story" AS A WHOLE. PERIODT. "America" performed by the Sharks girls and boys is just one clear indication of this.
