"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022)
"Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009)
"Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000
Oh my, that's terrible, glad to hear that they were okay. A little odd that they wouldn't just use a prop razor. Even with all that protection, I think it would be just as easy to find a simple prop rather than the real thing. Well, either way, glad that they're alright.
I don't remember what I ended up purchasing, but I know I had to dull the blades, too. Took forever by hand. I'm going to guess that there was a rough knick on the blade that cut them.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
For the TV show Dexter, John "Trinity Killer" Lithgow was asked about having his cheek cut by Dexter's scalpel. He responded that the scalpel was a prop. "Blood" exuded from channels in the scalpel to look like blood. There is probably a safe razor prop that can be used for Sweeney Todd productions.

I was surprised they used a real blade too - and in a high school production, yet. Even if you're super careful, that's a naked razor blade you've got there. Just get a prop and then you don't have to worry about it.
