Oh please, get out of your bubble. She's coming into this on the heels of one of the big flops of the season, CHICKEN & BISCUITS. Casting a journeyman actor in a replacement supporting role will never have significant impact, regardless of talent.
TINA –– like other large musicals –– needs 500,000 people buying $100+ on tickets over the course of a year, which means appealing beyond the musical theatre fans.

Don't know what "bubble" you're talking about? You're more than welcome to explain..
My point being a theatre goer might recognize her from a previous show and want to see her in the new role. Never said anything about ticket sales, talent, or anything you mentioned above so I'm not sure why you are attacking my comment.
The bubble in question is the misguided belief that "theatre people" can sustain a big Broadway musical, which data indicates they cannot.
The entire thread is about ticket sales and the finances of this production.
Nobody's being attacked.

Ohh I see. I never know that bubble existed. Trust me, I am not in that bubble. Plus, I never said she would bring in the ticket sales it needs to be saved. Regardless of if NaTasha is there or not, the ticket sales are not where the show needs them to be to survive. She might bring in a few people here and there but that's it. No way was my post implying she was going to be the one to draw in the needed ticket sales.
Maybe this week?
Why would they announce closing this week if they literally just named a future replacement in February?
Hey it happened to frozen
As if the Broadway shutdown of 2020 is a comparable situation.

Their February replacements at least got to perform their roles for some time before closing was announced early in the shutdown.
Tina will announce when they’ll announce, Uncle Negs. No need to root for a show’s swift demise after 18 months of inactivity.

Uncle Negs!? How could you? LOLLOL!
I don’t wish this shows demise.
but…the writings on the wall….
This musical definitely needs a jolt in casting to bring attention to it. Having Jenifer Lewis recreate her WHAT’S LOVE GOT TO DO WITH IT film role as Tina’s mom would put this show on MANY radars and bring in interest even if she’s on stage 10 minutes.

Your actions speak differently... let's let people keep their jobs.

It DID happen to Thoughts of a Colored Man...but I expect TINA has intentions to keep running if they announced a replacement.
That’s true. That was also an unfortunate situation at the height of Omicron. Thankfully (hopefully, knock on wood) we are past that.
I never thought of stunt casting the role of Zelma, but that would certainly work. Or maybe Whoopi as GG? Well, now my mind is going down a rabbit hole and I just pictured Jennifer Holliday as Tina. I’m going to quit while I’m ahead.

Whoopi as Gran Georgeanna actually sounds like it would be a boon, especially during the summer months when she is on hiatus from “The View”. Granted, I don’t think she’s gonna be doing any projects that aren’t fully bubbled until this whole this is OVER over.
I will, however, throw a whole paycheck to see Jenifer Lewis step in as Zelma. Hell, 25 years ago, she probably could’ve played Tina. Though with Natasha, I’m glad she remains booked and blessed (didn’t she also pop into “Chicago” for a brief stint after C&B closed?).

There was a story on abc7 today where Nkeki said the producers from london flew in to visit the show and told the cast and crew they won't be going anywhere, they won't be closing. So if you take their word for it then it's staying open.
Here’s the story: https://abc7ny.com/tina-the-turner-musical-nkeki-obi-welekwe-pandemic/11507712/
Obviously, anything can happen, but that does sound like they intend to stay open through the winter.

Or until Nederlander activates the stop clause and kicks them out.

Well I can't imagine many producers are dying to open a show in a 1500 seat theatre right now...even Nederlander's own musical (Once Upon A One More Time) is reportedly waiting until summer or fall. If TINA is fine bleeding money and if Nederlander is fine keeping them around to avoid an empty theatre, then this thing will probably be here a couple more months.
Maybe this week??

As the person who created this thread 3 months ago, I wish I had the magical ability to retire this thread.
I have a question. At what point those a specific performance get cancelled due to a lack of an audience? I think I saw on their seating chart that Saturdays afternoon performance had only sold about 16 tickets? Do they still go on for such a small house?
I did a show in Westchester - a full scale musical. And there was a blizzard and we performed for 4 people.
