No way. DBH, a mostly well-reviewed show and box office hit, was certainly not competing for the fifth slot against poorly reviewed shows and box office bombs. It managed to get both its leads into the most competitive category, its director made the top 5 out of all musical directors--new and revivals--over some bigger names, and it picked up several other categories others were strong contenders in but didn't get. The show was clearly and genuinely well-liked. If anything was clearly fighting for the fifth slot, it was Mincemeat, whose director missed, whose inventive set design had a strong case but didn't make it, and whose only other nominations besides Malone (the slam dunk) were in categories with less competition (the ones available only to new shows, against a lot of those poorly reviewed shows and box office bombs, one of which a main contender--BVSC--wasn't eligible in). DBH was at the very least a solid 4th.

Could someone other than Nicole or Audra get Best Actress?
I'm thinking maybe they could end up splitting the vote and maybe Boop gets its one win that way.

It's certainly possible but I think it's extremely unlikely. It would require an actual close three-way race between Audra, Nicole, and Jasmine, in which all 3 have close levels of voter support. It would also require a big consolidation of support for Jasmine from a group of voters who will not vote for either Audra or Nicole- and it would also require that group to be pretty substantial in size, likely close to a majority of total voters. Or it would require Nicole or Audra having a collapse in support that hasn't been detected yet- could Nicole's MAGA brush come back to bite her, or the opinion that she's just playing herself? Will those who think Audra is wrong for Gypsy be a larger group than we think? Possible but, again, we haven't seen clear signs.
If anything, I think Jasmine will be the one who is the victim of a split vote- Jen and Megan will be receiving votes that, in theory, could be going to her. They may not receive a ton, but they could receive enough between them to deny Jasmine a plurality in a close race.
But I really don't think it's that close between those 3 deserving ladies. Boop has not been able to create the momentum and enthusiasm it needs.

I liked MHE alot, & thought Criss could takeit easily. Franciswas out when I saw Sunset."
Groff is working his ass off and is in great voice as usual but he’s essentially playing himself. Tom Francis calls out a lot.
My money is on Criss now.

Agreed. I'm pulling for Criss or Francis. I don't think Francis can be totally written off, considering he picked up the Olivier for his performance. That hardly means it's in the bag, but it definitely shouldn't be forgotten.

Is Rose from ‘Gypsy’ the Greatest Role in Broadway History?
That’s What Tony Awards History Suggests
Every actress who has played the part on Broadway has at least been nominated for the Tony for best actress in a musical.

This is false. We are stuck with him because of the human garbage who cast a vote for him.

I don’t see a world where Maybe Happy Ending loses. None of the other nominated musicals are loved enough to outweigh the commercial and industry embrace of MHE.
No import has won Best Musical in many, many years. DBH was the clear 5th slot out of Boop, Smash, RWHC, Swept Away. Dead Outlaw lost the goodwill from off-broadway in its prolonged transfer time.
BVSC is the biggest contender but it being a jukebox musical absolutely hurts its chances."
When I realize BVSC got director and book the first thing that came to me was: ''can this upset MHB?''
then I remembered that was a jukebox musical and was like ''yeah, not happening''.
If anyone can beat MHE is DOutlaw but I don't see it happening.

Once more people see Jordan I suspect this will change. He's giving quite a vocal and physical performance as is Francis. Francis called out only because of being sick and had a vacation week - as did Nicole - in April. He doesn't call out needlessly. It's a very long and physical show for him. For us it's a Jordan or Francis competition. Criss is cute in MHE but not giving the vocal or physical performance Jordan or Francis are. A wig, fake eyebrows are created by the team. He's charming in MHE - but Jordan and Francis are stunning in their productions.

You realize he's an actor and not a puppet, right?
CoffeeBreak , have you met MrShowbiz?? My sources are saying you know each other very well. 😎

I was taken aback by that comment as well. No matter how good the costume designer, movement director, Arden’s masterful direction, you still need a great actor to pull that off. Yes darling he is not an actual robot you can dress up and program.
But still, although I hope he wins, it would be tough to beat Jeremy Jordan. Haven’t seen his performance yet but based on the reviews he is the only actor who got love letters from critics. Tom Francis, though great on the role, was too bland and one note for me. Granted he doesn’t really have a good character arc to begin with.
And yes, nobody is beating Maybe Happy Ending for the top honors.
Best actress is still Nicole vs Audra.
Featured actor has Jak Malone etched already. Like Jeremy Jordan, he received a lot of love letters from critics. And nobody can ever beat the Dear Bill moment.
Featured actress may surprise but Buena Vista Social Club will win in this category I believe. Natalie Venetia Belcon was magnificent in that role.

Nah. Diego has gone on for him quite a few times.

Scheduled. Not call outs.

He was out for me too, and it wasn't scheduled... I think Criss takes it. He's got the Emmy and Globe already.

He’s called out at least 15 times just from a quick glance at Understudies.com. I loved him in the role but he has missed some performances.
He was sick for some time and also had a full vacation week and another half week. Criss also had a full week off among other dates. They are people not "puppets".
Criss may get a Tony for producing MHE. Hoping acting award goes to Jordan who has created many roles on Broadway and vocally nails it or Francis who is all-around spectacular.. Spread the love around for better vocals and performance.
Both MHE writers, Arden and Laffrey are producers on MHE. They could get all get Tonys from a Best Musical win alone.
Hoping FLOYD can get some love and celebrated as well.
I'm gonna get crucified here, but JJ can't act. Is his attempt at yodeling worth a Tony? Me thinks not....

But the only ones who won it were directed by Laurents. As of today, there is no Rose win without him.

Here that Nicole, you got this - TONY!

Jeremy Jordan is not winning, it's either Criss or Francis, but I believe Nicole will overshadow Tom and Darren takes it.
Sunset takes Revival, Actress, Directing, Lighting and maybe Orchestrations.

Actually:
- Maybe Happy Ending: Musical, Actor, Book and Scenic Design
- Dead Outlaw: Score
- Buena Vista Social Club: Featured Actress and Choreography
- Operation Mincemeat: Featured Actor
- Death Becomes Her: Costumes.
+ 5 from Sunset as I said and have no clue who takes Sound.
With more people seeing FLOYD (and those EXCELLENT reviews for Jordan, I wouldn't count him out.
MHE's book is simplistic rom-com. Hoping book goes to a more creative Dead Outlaw or Mincemeat which are dramatically smarter and more satisfying.

No, not "among other dates". Criss' standbys both had their debuts during his week of vacation in March and haven't been on again since.
