So we know Kelli will easily be nominated again (two years in a row..wowowo) for the Tony.
But as much as she should be rewarded for her Pajama work, voters will see it as slight and go for the safe Patti (oh gawd) or LaChanze (just average).
So why wait for the awards..let start bitching now!
After she was robbed by the talent impared Saarraaaa (at least she showed up to get the award), Kelli deserves some Tony love.
Not gonna happen this year.
LaPone is gonna get it.
Oh goody.
Let's make this year more depressing.
Haha.
People are still bitching about Sara. How pathetic.
I love how they blow a few missed shows out of proportion. I'm sure she was there more than Donna Murphy was at WONDERFUL TOWN.
That's all I'm gonna say.

and seriously, Kelli shouldn't win this year, there are couple people I'd put before her.

kelli should have won last year.
not this year.
lachanze should win.
It's all Patti's.
It made perfect sense for Sara Ramirez to get the award last year. While the roles she and O'Hara portrayed were vastly different from one another, in difficulty and tone, Ramirez shone in a mediocre show, rising above the material, while O'Hara was another great thing about a great show.
This year, LuPone will most likely win with a possible upset from LaChanze.
Kelli O'Hara won't and shouldn't win this year's Tony.
I feel like we'll see a lot of surprises this year since there is no frontrunner in any category. Even when it comes to the nominations. Who knows, we'll just have to see. I mean, Bill Irwin did win last year, didn't he?

Oh, come on; look at her competition. It's impossible, and against LuPone alone even *without* LaChanze, there's not going to be reason to say she should've won.
Frankly, I didn't think LaChanze was particularly good in The Color Purple. I would like to see Kelli win cause she, in my opinion, gave the best performance easily. However, Patti will probably win. This upsets me though because, even though I love her, Patti has performed the role of Mrs. Lovett many times in concert versions, etc. Also, for me, Kelli way outshone Harry, which is an impressive stunt in itself. GO KELLI!!!

Yes bjh..what Kelli does seems effortly easy. But making a role in a light weight show takes master skill.
And Sara only missed a "few" shows? I guess Mike Nichols went to the theater to thank her for attendance.
And yes..let's compare Kelli and Sara last year.
Sara - small role which required her to do slap stick comedy and fall out of her costume.
Kelli - lead role of a mental challenged girl who carried the show on her ability to communicate that disability while singing hard, demanding music.
Yes..you're right..they were both exactly the same.

Stranger things have happened.
Besides the fact that Kelli was in the wrong category last year...I DO NOT THINK Clara is MERELY FEATURED and her role was far more substantial compared to Sara's...Sara won for appropriately for FEATURED and Kelli pretty much knew Sara was going to get it. Kelli didn't feel robbed ONE BIT either.
This year her competition is very stiff to even get a nomination. So I think she will be very thrilled with even being mentioned in the same sentence as Patti Lupone and LaChanze. I don't think that Pajama Game's Babe is the Tony winning role for Kelli but there will be one coming up for her I am sure!
I don't think that Kelli actually SET OUT to be the big star that she is..so all of this other stuff is just icing for her.
hey Kelli, if I call you to congratulate you this year...I'M NOT CELIA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL!!!!

Yes, but if Kelli had been pushed for lead, she'd have been in competition with Victoria Clark. That tactic wasn't really reflective of the part size.

i didn't want to mention the tactic..
i don't agree with the tactic..if someone is in a leading role thats the category they should be in. this has NOTHING to do with kelli..she is a friend and i am not attacking her in ANY way!
i just don't agree with the rules that that is allowed.
it would have been like putting kristin chenoweth as a featured for Glinda just so she wouldn't have to be in the same category as Idina..i just don't agree with it. kelli could have competed with victoria as much as she competed against sara and as much as she will be competing with LaChanze and Patti and Cyndi...etc...
you should be nominated in the category for which your role IS!
another badgley mishka for her to consider:

accessories..paint! LOVE IT!
I'm done though..
those are my top picks for Kelli to wear...the first one is my favorite and would look amazing with her gorgeous blue eyes!
and i thought YOU were going to bed!!!
Sara shouldve won. and she did so get over it. i happened to see ALL the nominees this year, and Patti was brilliant and if she wins I definitely won't be mad. LaChanze was great as Celie and if she wins, I wont be mad. But that damn Kelli O'Hara better not walk her ass across that stage and win. I mean big whoop Lil Miss Opera sang some jazzy showtunes. She wasnt all that. I kno plenty of ladies who wouldve been just as good in that role or better. She was good. Not Tony Worthy. Now maybe in a another year(without Sara) Kelli wouldve won the Tony.
But they do that, in many cases, to increase the chances for a win; if they were both nominated in the same category, they'd potential 'cancel each other out,' or, if one won, that would mean the other did not.
Kelli deserved a Tony for Piazza last year, I don't think her work as Babe in Pajama Game deserves a Tony.

i hear ya luv..i still don't agree with it!
=) I am proud of Kristin for not going that route.
Crivello did it for Spiderwoman and he was a LEAD..not featured.
