Well, think of it this way: Victoria was going to win way before Kelli was (sorry), so at the very least, what was done at least gave Kelli a fair shot, whether or not it be about competing with someone you like, or have a working relationship with, whatever.
For what it's worth, I don't agree with Sara Ramirez's win; it should've gone to Jan Maxwell (!!!!) or to Kelli.

Sara - small role which required her to do slap stick comedy and fall out of her costume.
Kelli - lead role of a mental challenged girl who carried the show on her ability to communicate that disability while singing hard, demanding music.
there it is in black and white!
sara -small role...FEATURED
kelli- lead role..NOT FEATURED...
but i DO understand what you're saying...my opinion is..why try to "trick" the system..everyone knows she was in the wrong category! LOL! vicki shared it with her anyway!

I don't think it's tricking the system so much as using it to advantage, if it gives someone a better chance of winning.
I don't get the Ramirez hype, but whatever.

Its the same tactic (I prefer that word to trick
) that allowed Catherine Zeta Jones to win a Best Supporting Actress Oscar rather than Best Actress where she would have had no chance against Rene. Of course she in turn didnt win either!
The whole system is political and changes over time. I really get what Andrea is saying as she seems to be a natural optimist like me! However like everything else in our crazy modern life its one big game and people figure out how to play the game to their advantage.
Wouldnt it be easier if we all stopped playing the game and made up new rules? Stop me now before I devolve into a rant!

After all this time Tuttle returns just as ignorant and immature as always.
What a shame.

Posted: 5/16/06 at 8:33amGiven the Tony voters it will be Patti. Also, Kelli @ times seemed a bit stiff where Patti was never less that on her best game. ( I admit I blame the director for the acting deficiencies in PJ)

Frankly, Kelli's career's about to skyrocket so they won't bother awarding her for what is, for her, not a great performance. Patti, on the other hand, is a lock unless the voters decide to award LaChanze for being consistently screechy and thrilling people like Andyf.

Andrea--
I think those cuts and fabrics would be great on Kelli. I just wish the colors were a little stronger, at least on the first two. A little more blue, a little less steel. O
n the third gown, I think the umbered (is that what the color fade is called) is a little...I dunno...I guess cheezy is the only word I can think of. It kind of looks like a HS prom gown to me. The color-fade thing has been a big trend in prom/homecoming gowns for the past few years (used to work in Macy's dress dept.) But I still love the cut and the flowing fabric!

And thanks for those who have shared intelligent opinions unlike others who use run on sentances and no periods because apparently they are too busy working the drive thru in order to construct a proper paragraph but thats what happenss when you support sarraaa you get people who dont know quality.
Damn. I put a period.

Thank you bj...a voice of reason.
But, apparently, what's more important is the kind of chiffon she will be waring on her Vera Wang strappless dress.

Posted: 5/16/06 at 1:26pmAm I the only one out there who DIDN'T like Kelli O'Hara in Pajama Game? I thought she played the character like a cold fish -- no vulnerability, sweetness, even sassiness. Just serious businesswoman. Except she's a factory worker, not a businesswoman! Did she ever seem like the peer of the other women? I sure as heck didn't see it.

Mr. Tuttle,
RELAX! I was just trying to have some fun and keep it light
and it's NOT Vera Wang its Badgley Mishka.
I have gotten really funny PM-s regarding it!
Sorry to highjack your thread.
Kelli is a personal friend of mine and I was just trying to keep the thread light because there ARE people who disagree with you. It could get nasty and I was just trying to have fun. Just because I type without caps or run on sentences doesn't mean I am stupid and LOVE Sara Ramirez. That's an odd comment!
It's just a little statue! WHO CARES! LOL! Kelli doesn't! Winning or losing will not make or break her career! She is doin just fun!
I agree about the final dress looking a little prom-y. I just liked the color.
Now let's get back to something SO MUCH more important....Sara is awful and only Kelli deserves to win the Tony??!?!?!
OH! I have to go, my fries are burning and there is a line of cars at the window who need their orders taken!
Do you even know who I am?!

Tuttle-
I second that "relax." I just felt bad that no one was responding to Andrea's dresses, even though she kept asking!
BTW, people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. Wearing, not waring. FYI

I love Kelli. This part she says is closer to her. I thought she was fabulous and fitting for her role. I'm so sick on theis Patti LuPone must win everything! Give her a chance, people!

FrontRow, you are certainly not alone. I adored Kelli in Piazza - she was the main reason I saw The Pajama Game to begin with. I was so incredibly disappointed in her performace. Maybe she was having an off night. I'll be willing to give her the benefit of the doubt, but she left me completely unimpressed.
Based on what I saw - the word "Tony" never entered my mind as a possibility for her.
