I join you for The River! It is enigmatic and did not please everyone who saw it... but I thought Hugh was impressive as he interpreted the role of someone who could not find the ideal he was looking for. There is a part where he was reciting like an ode ...and I thought his theatre training ( incl classical theatre) was quite evident in how he delivered it!

I do like Hugh as well when he is doing dramatic plays. Did you get to see A Steady Rain, co-starring Daniel Craig? I remember overhearing two mature women behind me where I was seated and they kept on gushing over Daniel before the curtain opened. After the performance, as I followed them out of the theatre - they would talk only about Hugh Jackman! Change of heart in less than 2 hours

The River was just one of those plays that I think was always going to divide commercial audiences. Although I haven't looked back to see what the response was on the board at the time, but I could imagine it wasn't 100% positive.

I didn't get to see A Steady Rain! I had the opportunity but I was familiar with the script prior to the production, and I knew I wasn't a fan of the writing so I didn't prioritize seeing it. It can be difficult for me to sometimes to want to see an actor I like in a script I despise (Marissa Tomei in Rose Tattoo being my most recent case; just couldn't bring myself to go)

My mom loves Hugh so I bought her and a friend tickets to see this in November. My mother has underlying health conditions and the friend dealing with cancer. Even with a vaccine or whatever, my mom is already asking me if I can get her a refund. Shes in her late 60s and I feel is just not going to be comfortable seeing anything for years at the very least.

Breaks my heart because she's been telling me that she doubts she will ever travel again given her age already. It's gonna take some major changes to make her comfortable again. Even if a refund presents itself, I might just go with a friend instead but it would be tough to see a show and telling my mom I went to see her "precious dreamy Hugh" (how she describes him) without her

And I assume that when you paid over $400.00 for those tickets you had the money to spend or budgeted it. If not, that is not the fault of the show. It is yours. They are not responsible for your CHOICE to spend that money. So now you have to wait. And I doubt complaining here is going to get you a refund any faster.

Last time I checked this is a free country so if I want to state my opinion I can do it wherever and whenever I want. If you don't like my "complaining" then don't respond.

I have been mulling over doing this very same thing!

I'm speculating that if fall 2020 performances are canceled, some ticket buyers will jump at later tickets.

I'm a jumper who wants to beat a possible demand for spring 2021 seats.

Yeah, I'm thinking if shows do reopen this fall, it'll be the smaller scale shows and possibly non profits.

This isn't a bad idea since I have November tickets that will probably be cancelled, but I'm taking a wait-and-see attitude because I am sure when Broadway reopens (next year) I don't think they will put people next to each other. I think there will be empty seats in between people who don't buy tickets together. Thus, they'll probably have to do a lot of cancellations unfortunately. But who really knows right now.

The quote "We're all hoping it's deferred, and nothing more than that" gives me hope. As much as we all want this show to happen, it seems like the people behind it do, too.

They can hang on to the money as long as they want, most likely until September when they can announce it's postponement or cancellation.

Yeah, they don't seem to understand that verbally abusing people involved with the Music Man isn't the move.

They know they are sitting on a gold mine with a cast like that, and do not want to have to postpone. They are trying to wait it out, but they will lose in the end. They just have to look to January, or later and patrons wearing masks and having their temperature checked.

Theater is not happening in September. That’s just a placeholder date for them to manage refunds.

Because of insurance, there is absolutely no way that they will cancel this show until it is 100% clear that it will not happen. Right now we're at about 97% sure it will not happen, which is not enough for their insurance to kick in. I'd imagine that it will not get cancelled until rehearsals are supposed to begin. If they cannot rehearse due to a government mandate, then that should kick their insurance clause in.

LOL you haven't seen the responses about the postponement and hoping Beetlejuice will open somewhere else. It is the circle of Broadway that shows close and there is very little hope that they reopen somewhere else. It's just a fact. Shows close. No amount of hoping and praying that they will stay open translates to better ticket sales. Do you think people are moping around about closed shows and hoping they reopen in a different theater? They get excited about other shows. That's the beauty of theater-there is always something else to be excited about. Seriously. People need to move on. One of my favorite shows closed earlier this year and I'm not still moping around about it because I was too excited for new shows like The Minutes, Six, Flying Over Sunset, and several others. I wouldn't tell someone not to be sad, but be realistic, at least!"
