And CPD- Yes, it is her.

With a stone clutched in his hand
He was only a boy
But he knew someone must take a stand
There will always be a valley
Always mountains one must scale
There will always be perilous waters
Which someone must sail

IF Waddingham was ever seriously considered for the transfer, she has been completely off the table since at least late June, so there's no point in arguing about her. It's not happening.

I believe they are looking to cast their Desiree first and then cast a Frederik based on Desiree. That's just an educated guess, though.

Yeah, there is a difference between "the offer is accepted" and "the contract is signed." Often, especially with big stars, the contract won't be signed until after rehearsals start, sometimes even after performances start, because they're still haggling over details.

I can't imagine Equity would allow its members to do any kind of work on a production, including rehearsal, without a signed contract.
I know of one case involving a Hollywood actress whose contract was not signed until after the show closed.
I was pretty surprised, too, but as long as Equity knows that a deal is being made and they have their bond (which they need even before contracts are drafted), I guess they'll allow it.

As someone who was in the pool for a long while with this production, I can say with utmost certainty that some of the roles have been cast and signed, while a few have been merely offers waiting for further discussion.
All but Deseree and Frederik are set last I heard from my friend who's currently cast. As I said, most of the speculation on this thread has been correct.
Two NIGHT MUSIC speculation thread and nothing? Wow, I can't believe they still don't have a Desiree after all the alleged potential candidates they have gone through. I'm disappointed to hear that Marin Mazzie is not set. Yet another speculation tease It should be interesting to see who finally gets to play Desiree and Fredrick.

I heard some interesting rumors last week that hadn't been mentioned on this board before. :)
every time someone says that I think "...but haven't we named every actress ever?"

givesmevoice: An actress that was offered the role of Desiree in the last 2 weeks had never been mentioned before on this thread. Not sure if she accepted it or not yet. A wonderful choice.
LoveIsCompany: You are right about casting - Most roles are set: offers have been accepted, but contracts have not been 'signed' like you say.
I didn't mean "signed", that was a poor word choice. Actually, there is one I know for a fact that was signed, but other than that most are set except for two roles that are still in negotiations last I had heard (which was last week)...
Now I don't have a preference for one vs. the other in this situation, but am a little surprised by the bile with which people are arguing about the age of Waddingham in this role then turning around and suggesting Marin Mazzie.
srsly?
I know people are bringing up Marin as a comparable state-side casting for Desiree but arguing that point paired with Desiree/Waddingham being too young in the UK production is absurd. We could just scrap ALNM and have them star in a revival of Side Show together.
I love America. Just because I think gay dudes should be allowed to adopt kids and we should all have hybrid cars doesn't mean I don't love America.

Marin Mazzie is in her late 40s, which makes her the age everyone wants Desiree to be.
Cheyenne Jackson tickled me. AFTER ordering SoMMS a drink but NOT tickling him, and hanging out with Girly in his dressing room (where he DIDN'T tickle her) but BEFORE we got married. To others. And then he tweeted Boobs. He also tweeted he's good friends with some chick on "The Voice" who just happens to be good friends with Tink's ex. And I'm still married. Oh, and this just in: "Pettiness, spite, malice ....Such ugly emotions... So sad." - After Eight, talking about MEEEEEEEE!!! I'm so honored! :-)
though i wouldnt cast her in the role, shed be a very sexy anne. Instead of pointless speculation lets just announce the cast already!

I am a huge Patti fan, but I do not think she understands how wrong in type she is for the role. Italian and Swedish are very different.
This isn't going to make sense, but I'll try. I agree that she's not right. However, I do think she'd be right in the sense that she has the chops for it. like, I think she could bring the humor and pathos I think the part requires.
that being said, she's too old for the part now.
