All bets are off for any import from London, theatrical or otherwise, for the next few years. Tariffs, cultural shifts, a declining dollar and a resurgence of anti-American sentiment. I am sure UK theater producers will still want to make money but that is what we will get… just the cash grabs.

The recent UK production of PASSING STRANGE with Giles Terera was supposed to have a pre-Broadway run at A.R.T in from May-June, but the production was quietly cancelled without fanfare. It had even been fully cast and apparently there was no heads up before it went down
Has no one mentioned The Devil Wears Prada yet?

The show has a reputation this side of the pond for being horrible. Zero reason to bring it over unless producers expect another Pretty Woman.
The only way I see The Producers coming to Broadway is if someone wanted make more money with a flop than with a hit.... despite the reviews it was rough....

Another thread is reporting a planned transfer of The Producers after a West End run. Though it’s been a hot minute since the original, I wonder if the indelible memory of the original makes this transfer riskier than most?
i suspect that if there were plans to move Giant, they’d be on hold until Lithgow finishes filming the new Harry Potter series. Ditto for Richard II (since Bailey is in high demand).
A publicist pal says there are no plans to move Prada (hot on the heels of Tammy Faye), Elektra or Oedipus.

Either Oedipus?
After having seen Devil Wears Prada and Benjamin Button in London, I’d predict that neither will make a transfer across the pond. I don’t see BB receiving a Broadway production, anyway. Maybe a regional tryout.

I believe he was referring to the Rami Malek production.

I was really hoping Death Note would come over. But after that botched production of Your Lie In April and the cast album that never came out, I don't think it's happening.
I hope we see The Producers over here
I also really want to see Kyoto or Dear England eventually, but those may be pipe dreams. Same with Starlight Express. But I just really love that show

Had read on the other board Prada wasn’t transferring but would just be a regional deal. Not surprised if Malek’s wouldn’t come over - reviews were brutal.
Also, there were rumors there Brody would be making his Broadway debut with The Fear of 13.
Even if not the current one, I would like to see a Producers revival.

John Lithgow is tremendous in Giant, however it's not a very good play. It's also an illiberal play. The eventual thesis of the piece is that age old slander that people who are anti-Israel, or anti-Israel government are really, secretly (or not so secretly) anti-semitic. I have lost a lot of respect for Nicholas Hytner over this play. Presumably it's a dig at former Prime Minister Jeremy Corbyn.
The National Theatre's production of The Importance of Being Earnest is the greatest production of that play I have ever seen! I certainly hope that transfers.
If Benjamin Button transfers I do hope it's with the original Southwark cast. One of the leads was a former Tony winner and the other is about to be Desdemona in Denzel Washington's Othello!
The Regents Park production of Fiddler on the Roof is transferring to the West End and it is a gorgeous production of that musical. I think it could make money on Broadway.
I'm seeing Much Ado and The Seagull before I leave on Wednesday so I will report back.

Richard II
The Years

Icke’s Oedipus
RSC’s Hamlet
Cat on a Hot Tin Roof
Robert Icke had an interview last year that he was hoping to stage Player Kings in the US in 2025. I hope he does. Tremendous performances."
Well, looks like the Icke Oedipus is officially the first of these to announce! I wonder what’s next?
Talked to a friend yesterday just back from London who raved about the Lloyd Much Ado. Hopefully Hiddleston and Atwell’s availability can support a transfer of that.

Not sure which side of the pond you are on, but here in London, while the show has not been a critical success, it has been a hot ticket. It may not walk away with a slew of awards but it has popular appeal and has sold incredibly well. I can see it doing Toronto, a limited Bway engagement and having a very successful tour.
I will admit I didn't think it was a good show overall, but it had it's moments and was far from unwatchable....l'll take this over JUST FOR ONE DAY, BENJAMIN BUTTON and OPERATION MINCEMEAT any day of the week.

"Much Ado" A definite YES!! It has to transfer and I'm pretty sure it WILL transfer. Best, most joyful production EVER. Had no idea they had completely cut Dogberry out of the play and you don't miss him an iota. It's so wild they even mock Hiddleston and Atwell's Marvel personas...and it somehow works. That is the nature of this colorful, dancey, amazingly charming version of my personal favorite Shakespeare comedy.
"Seagull"...uh, no. Although Cate is brilliant.
Just left Benjamin Button and thoroughly enjoyed it. Felt like Come From Away narration-wise, Hunchback story-wise (which they referenced), and Last Ship/Robber Bridegroom music-wise. Beautiful show.

So many keywords making it clear that I made a good decision skipping this last year…

Suspect if it does, they’ll want the New Amsterdam for it.

Grain of salt inherent but apparently Shouty says Fiddler may be going into Barrymore post Othello.
