I think I might upload some stuff from my highschool production of Footloose. It truly wasn't good. Only a few people could act/sing (me hopefully being one of them since I did sing "Still Rockin'"), the choreography was horendous, the staging was ick, the band wasn't good...
But it was fun to be in! That was the plus in it all! XD
EDIT: That Sweeney Todd production was actually very good. Updated On: 6/16/09 at 11:20 PM
I just about died with laughter. I went through this entire thread, oh what gems!
I died especially at the HKAPA SMS one because that's my friend playing Dorothy O.O I totally understand why people find it hilarious (I kind of do, as well) - but just for the record, it's their summer musical, so I think that (probably) most of the cast AREN'T APA students, who at least, in my opinion, are terrific dancers. I don't know anyone taking voice there anymore though, so I won't speak for it.
The link above is exactly why some High Schools should be banned from putting on musicals.

To every High School director.... NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER DO CABARET!

The Jet girls try to stop the boys, LOL. And Doc laughs at them.
Seeing as I was in WSS (I played Doc), I have to comment on this.
1. The set. There are so many terrific elements that it's hard to chose just one favorite - I think it may have to be that Yankee sign.
2. WTF random Jet girls? This is like the production of Les Miserables I saw where there was a random female ensemble in the prison scene. And I love how they're totally okay with Anita telling everyone that Tony won't see Maria because she's been shot.
3. Costumes. It makes perfect sense that all the Jets wear the same exact thing. I mean, how else could we know that they're a gang?
4. I love that Doc laughs at them. Seriously. That just takes the scene from being good to being amazing.
For the lulz of it, here's their "Dance at the Gym". Perhaps not a gem like "America", but I'll let you all be the judge of that: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1I3gJL0bj5w Now, I realize that this could be opening night. Or maybe they didn't have the funds to get better costumes. Or maybe the band didn't have at least two weeks to learn the score...
And not to sound rude, but watching videos like this make me that much more grateful I had a wonderful director and cast when I was involved with the show.
Also, I think Cabaret can be done at a high school. It just depends on the talent and the creativity of the cast/director. Obviously that high school had neither!

"Yes, the brutalities of progress are called revolutions. When they are over, men recognize that the human race has been harshly treated but it has moved forward." - Les Miserables
This is another MET2 production. I'm sad to say, I was part of this company for a while (although in a different production of Annie, which was worse than this one).
I have not had time to look at the entire thread but is there a list of shows that no HS should try to tackle? AndAllThatJazz22 got me thinking of what a HS should never try to perform for various reasons I agree w/ Cabaret and would add Gypsy. I saw a HS do a highly edited version of Gypsy and it stunk. They did the Burlesque scenes off stage with the audience basically staring at an empty set during those times. Also the poor girl playing Mama Rose had a voice but couldn't belt if her life depended on it. Rose's Turn was just too much for her to pull off and the final 30 seconds was just pure pain on the ears.
