As per SRO- They don't normally lotto off Standing room tickets. On Saturday they sold SRO not by lotto, but at the box office. What I'm pretty sure happened on Sunday was they were already sold out at the BO and there was a lot of people doing the lottery, so they lottoed off Standing Room.
Just wanted to bring that up. Standing room isn't *always* lottoed.
i think u have to know people in the business

Shh, its easy and its not easy. If you want to usher, you have to join the union which is easy enough. I got a job (not ushering wise) at this theatre because I knew/know a lot of people there.
Actually I take that back, about the ushering. I completely forgot (and this may have changed, not sure) but in order to join the union to usher, they want to see proof that you've worked as an usher recently. Which doesn't make sense since that's the whole point of joining the union, to usher! But anyway, its really all about connections :/

i am totally in love with my in the heights cd, but i was wondering why Siempre (Always) wasn't recorded?
Well, Siempre is part of the finale. So it *is* in the recording.
ETA: I just got the cd, and I have to say, seeing the lyrics is blowing my mind. Cause I had some of them so completely wrong. During 96,000 I was SURE the men in the chorus were going "holla holla" (My friends even named them the "holla holla guys"). But nope, it's not holla holla. And "fothermucker" cracked me up.
Anyway, it's a great recording, with gorgeous packaging. I can dance to the tracks now. Holla!

Got my Cast Recording... it's awesome!
They're not saying "holla holla"? I totally thought they were, too! Even on the video of them recording it, it looks like they are saying "holla holla". What are they really saying?
According to my CD booklet they are...
And with the dollah dollah
We get to hollah hollah
We rock the hot Impala
and so forth.
Oh by the way, I am LOVING the recording.
me 2...i play every song over and over again...except for inutil and some of the piragua's songs...but other than that ...this cd is great
lol i love the piragua songs.
Maybe because the Mr. Softee truck was an integral part of my child hood so that always cracks me up haha
I find myself singing Piragua in random places like Target! I love the song, but I think I'm starting to embarrass my mom by singing in puplic places!
"If we don't live happily ever after at least we survive until the end of the week!" -Kermit the frog "I need the money... it costs a lot to look this cheap!" -Dolly P. "Oh please, Over at 'Gypsy' Patti LuPone hasn't even alienated her first daughter yet!" Mary Testa in "Xanadu" "...Like a drunk Chita Rivera!" Robin de Jesus in "In the Heights"
"B*tch, I don't know your life." -Xanadu After that if he still doesn't understand why you were uncomfortable and are now infuriated, kick him again but this time with Jazz Hands!!! -KillerTofuI am obsessed with the syncopation of "Hey Vanessa let me get the next one..."

I was telling my wife the same thing !! The first time I saw the show, "Piragua guy" brought me right back to my childhood-
We didnt have him-- , but we had Smitty- A guy that used to ride a "Good Humor" bicycle, and come by every summer night for years.
Our moms used to take change, put it in a plastic sandwich bags, and throw them off the terraces. All at once, you would see everyone running onto the lawn, looking for their bag-
The fire hydrants too--- took me back !!
Ah--- those were the days.
OMG and when Janet starts "The hydrants are open, cool breezes blow...." I get all weepy.
Yeah, I just thought they went holla holla, all the time in the chorus. And it boggled my mind to discover actual lyrics there.
I like the little anecdote in Kail's note about how the Piragua song came to be. Cause it's true, el Piraguero really is a very fleshed out character, especially for such a small role.
Also, I love Sonny's little rant in 96,000. Especially the fact that he knows what gentrification means. Sonny for Congress, yo.
I actually am not a fan of Sonny's rant in 96 G. I love it on stage and seeing it or whatever but it's just not the same. And if you have never seen the show it will be weird.
I love Blackout, Enough, Carnival, Piragua, No Me Diga, Breathe, Benny's Dispatch...
Seriously? Why would it be weird if you've never seen the show? You mean you don't like the way it was recorded? Because that's like...one of the meatiest most politically charged discourses in the whole piece. You don't need to have seen the show to understand what he's saying, or why.

I miss No Me Diga (Reprise) on the cd. I get why it was cut, but- there should be as much Andrea Burns on my cd as possible. :)
And...

what does
no para sigue mean?
"Don't stop, go, go" I think.
It's "no pare, sigue sigue". And yes, it means "don't stop, go go", or, rather "don't stop, keep going, keep going". It's a popular expression.

I am in love with Robin, like he is amazing but I don't really like his voice there unless I see him. But I think if someone who hasn't seen the show they won't kind it funny.

This girl just walked in the theatre saying 'I'm so excited!' It was cute. And Sherri Shepherd (from The View) was hanging around outside (she's here to see the show). How ironic, seeing as how they'll be on The View this Thursday.
Anyway, Karen is out again tonight But the good news is, Mandy is back!
Glad to hear that Mandy is better !! :))
What a great shot !!!
