Just finished watching it over here in the West Coast and overall I thought it was just ok. There were parts that were funny, the music was alright, the choreography was pretty good (Jerry Mitchell came up with some great stuff), the supportive cast was great. Christian Borle was just a sweet heart in this role, Orfeh was absolutely wonderful, Andy Karl stole the scenes as the UPS guy. I thought that LBB was ok, her performance didn't do that much for me, and her singing at times did get on my nerves. Although there were some scenes were I thought she was good.
Although next time MTV wants to present a broadway musical, get better host and don't do commercials, it was getting rather annoying, especially after a big number!
ya the camera views didn't really work. They were rushed and yet still managed to be late for the moments they were trying to capture. But, they did pretty good for trying to catch a LIVE show. I mean that's hard you know? you can't go back and start over.
Yeah, I definitely agree with this statement. I wish it had more of a cinematic feel, instead of such a concert feel, I guess. If that makes sense...I know MTV is mostly about concert stuff, though, so I probably shouldn't complain.
But yes, new hosts are definitely needed, it was very obvious those "The Hills" girls were just doing it for some extra money on their paycheck...gosh, they got on my nerves.

To my surprise, I enjoyed it. The transitions were great, the cast is phenominal (esp. Kate Shindle, Orfeh, Laura Bell, and Nikki Snelson); I also was very entertained by the Greek Chorus, and the music was great. Some set pieces were a little too busy. Also, there were many times that the background people became too distracting. And after really enjoying the movie, some parts were very disappointing. For example, the scene where Elle and Paulette take back the dog was very anti-climactic, Elle winning the case in the bathroom was extremely anti-climactic, and the firing of Professor Callahan would've been very anti-climactic if it wasn't for Kate Shindle's incredible, powerful voice belting out the end of the Legally Blonde Remix.
Commercials really slowed down the pace of the show, but my only real complaint is the hosts.
Overall I think it's a great show, especially for first time or only time Broadway visitors. It's very well written for the most part, but at the same time I feel that I'll be rethinking my opinion on the show once more cast replacements take place. Updated On: 10/13/07 at 04:23 PM
I love the 70's sound in "What you want" <- or whatever the song is called.
"Zac is sweet as can be. He's very much just a sweet kid from California who happens to have a face that looks like it was drawn by Michelangelo, (if Michelangelo did anime)." -Adam Shankman.
"I haven't left this building since Windows 3.1!"
"Celebrating a birthday this week: Rene Descartes is 412! Do you know who he is? Then why are you watching this show? You could probably get into college and even get one of those job things. As for the rest of us; Amanda Bynes is 22! Yay!" -E!'s "The Soup"
I taped it and am playing it back. I have to say one of my favorite moments is they way Laura comes down the stairs in Right in Front of You. Made me laugh out loud both times.
1. I can't imagine performing this 8 times a week. I got a headache just watching all the shrieking, giggling, jumping, kicking, etc, etc.
2. I wonder if LBB cries regularly or if it was just coincidence that she cried at those particular performances which were filmed.
3. There was a lot of stuff that was fun but random to the point of losing my attention...The Greek chorus at times, the scene in the bathroom (what was the deal with the toilet paper?), the Irish dancing.
I was really excited to watch it but I'm sorry to say that it just doesn't quite work...it's very fun, and very energetic, but the music is utterly forgettable and certain scenes seem to deviate from its...focus? story?...something. I can't describe it.
Better music would really help.
And I agree with everyone who said the Hills girls were awful. I wanted to dump a bucket of ice water over their heads to make them come alive!
Not understanding all the Borle lives. He has the distinction of being the only cast member in the show with a more nasal sound than LBB.
And PS could they have no cleaned up her So Much Better any (sorry) "better" than that? She was sharp during the verses and strained/flat during the end. It sounded almost like they just lame-ass pitch-corrected the MTV audience recording.
your comparing legally blonde to mary poppins? how could you. Mary should fly down from on her magical umbrella and point at you so you get locked in a closet!
For the taping, did Nikki Snelson not perform as Shandi/Greek Chorus member in Act One? Because she wasn't there during "Positive"/"Chip on My Shoulder", but had to have been there for one of the letters to spell out 'Elle Woods' at the end of "So Much Better". Was it just a Swing for "Omigod..." and "So Much Better"?
Right in Front of You. Thats the song i really enjpyed.

LBB does cry regurarly (at least she cried a lot both times I saw the show live).
And I wanted to see more of Annaleigh Ashford! I know she doesn't have the biggest part but when I saw it live, no matter was going on, she was HILARIOUS. I might have to revisit wicked just to see her....
I didn't see the whole thing, but from what I saw:
Orfeh is great in this show.
Kate Shindle is awesome.
Positive is generally pointless and forgetable.
Blood in the Water and Chip on Your Shoulder serve a purpose, but a far too long.
What was with the bathroom scene? That was ridiculous.
The "Where we Are" bit at the end was odd, and felt badly tacked on.
The Greek chorus idea is pretty cute.
Bundy didn't thrill me at all, acting or singing wise.
Legally Blonde Remix was really fun.
Overall, it was okay. I'm not rushing out to get tickets, but it was fun.
I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.
