After watching the full clips online Natalie really impressed me with a pretty clever adlib. I still don't think she's Elle but she could be really great as a swing.
"They all totally failed the dropped line test. I don't think any of them should be on Broadway."
If you watch the actual audition videos, none of them did that bad (the editing made it look worse). Not to mention that this is not a realistic "test" of who should be on Broadway. An actor would not be expected to cover dropped lines in an audition or even in the rehearsal process. Only after about 3 to 5 weeks of rehearsal would actors need to start covering dropped lines. At that point in time, you are much more familiar with the script.
That was my thought NYC10040. When they'd had the script for that scene for what, a day? They'd be expected to cove immediately? How many people on here could cover a dropped line in a script they'd had for a day? I don't think I could.

LIVE THAT LESSON!!!!!!
i agree it was kind of unfair. I mean it's one thing on broadway when it is YOUR role and you are confident of your lines, but here the girls were thinking that they messed up.

I also agree jordan. It was a pretty unreasonable expectation, especially as most of them were working with Nikki for the first time. It is different when someone drops a line on stage and you've been working with the material for a while. Usually by then the actor has a good feel of the character, the material, and the pacing of the people they're working with.
That whole exercise was purely for television entertainment value.

I actually enjoyed Bailey a great deal. I could see her as Elle (though I have no idea if she has the stamina to play it 8 times a week yet). My other favorites are Autumn (easily the most polished of the bunch), and Rhiannon.
I have no idea why Emma keeps getting through to the next round...oh, wait...I do. Her dad is Jerry Zaks.
Heather Hach pisses me off every time she opens her mouth.
"To me, that says 'I'm an actress on stage' not 'I'm Elle Woods'."
Where does she think she is?!
You must think I'm still sixteen.
I dropped out of high school for a reason.
And I don't care if you're pretty. I'm not admitting you are right.
My soul is not a stage.
I won't pretend I'm anything I'm not
Exactly! For someone who wrote the book, Hach seems to have little understanding of the show... or life in general. Or, anything that's going on around her.

what baffles me about this show is how they start backwards. I think So Much Better was wayy too advanced for the first day of auditions and narrowing it down, I'd say thats a pretty tough song for a girl to go ahead and master on the first day and the dropped line? what the hell? these girls have been there a few days and they want them to start ad-libbing, these segments should have been later in the competition so they girls wouldve had more experience leading up to the hard song or the dropped line. just my input.
Yeah, I watched Cassie O's audition over twice... it was a pretty fair call that she was sent home last night. Her acting was pretty blah. I felt every other girl delivered something with an Elle-like quality, although not perfect. I lied... Autumn was perfection. Natalie was close to it also.
Haylie Duff—“I’ve been through some tough auditions before, but nothing like this!” and “no one on Broadway has done an audition this hard before!” The whole episode was worth it for those two Haylieisms. I love how she narrates as if she is on a Ken Burns documentary, and not an MTV reality show. What is up with three judges? Bernie is the ONLY one there who is qualified to be auditioning these girls, but I guess the writers didn’t think he had enough appeal on his own. I want to hit Heather Hach with a brick every time she opens her mouth and why is Paul there other than to entertain us all with his typical catty gay guy persona? It’s ridiculous! On the bright side, I forgot how much I loved Nikki Snelson! This is why I watch the show. Amidst the train wreck, I get to catch a glimpse of Seth, Nikki, and other people I actually care about. As for the girls, I really wanted to like Emma because she is aesthetically pleasing, but she comes across as a brat and I’m so underwhelmed with all of her auditions. She needs to leave. Bailey is too cute! She is the only one having fun up there and seems to be entirely herself, unlike some of the other girls who I just want to pound. *coughCassieScough*Right now I’m rooting for Bailey and Autumn, but Bailey looks more like Elle Woods.
Does anyone know when this show was filmed and if they have finished filming? That's the impression I got from earlier posts, and in the show they said Nikki was still apart of the LB cast. If that is the case, has a girl technically already won the competition and gotten cast?
I think it was perfectly fair to have Snelson drop a line on them - just to give them the opportunity to think on their feet. Someone like Celina should have been able to figure out what to do, rather than the awkward movements with her hands, considering that she's probably been in that situation before. She's the least green of the bunch - she should have been able to figure out what to do. Especially as Snelson was giving them a "look."
Yes, the shows has been filmed and wrapped. A winner has already been selected.

I think it's funny that this thread is going to match the Legally Blonde understudies thread in posts by the next episode of this show or the following. and maybe double it by the time this show is over?
I can't STAND Heather Hachs. I blame her for the show's problems, TBH.
And good heavens that ending was cheesy.
Anyway, I'm watching the individual clips now. I really like Autumn. I like Bailey, but I have to hear more of her singing. Lauren was the most natural in the acting scene to me (minus the line drop) but her hair is seriously bugging me. I disagree with their assessment of Cassie S. She showed vulnerability during the scene, as much as possible, anyway. Lindsey definitely has the look and I liked her acting, but I have to hear more of her singing.
Aaand I'm officially sick of that scene.
Jimmy, what are you doing here in the middle of the night? It's almost 9 PM!
