As is tradition, Adam Feldman of TimeOut put together his list of what he would nominate for the Tonys (using their eligibility determinations). His picks this year for the most part seem pretty solid and I wouldn’t be surprised if many of the categories looked very similar to this.

Some of Variety’s picks for winners seem far fetched (I say now until they actually happen lol)
Some of those Variety winners picks look like they were chosen by someone who's winging it because they haven't seen all of the shows. Also, I haven't really been paying attention, but has it been common knowledge that there will only be 4 Best Actress in a Play nominees?

Indeed, Chastain and Platt are the tell for me. (I loved those two performances, but not where the buzz has been.)
I think Variety's nods might be pretty close, though my preferences are close to these TimeOut ones.
Slightly surprised to see Kevin Cahoon on both those lists. Not that I don't think he is genius in his part but I feel like there are supporting roles with more to showcase. Andrew Durand for starters has 2 great numbers...
Man, seems like they really hated Camelot! I happen to be rooting for a Dancin' Best Revival nod (ideally with a tie forcing 5 noms), but am surprised they don't have it anywhere other than book, from what I can see. Actors aside, no costumes, lighting, nothing.

A question and a thought:
Andrew Durand is in featured actor, right? (I know the Drama Desk nominations had him as the lead.)
What will the Sweeney Todd revival actually win? It seems to me like it’s not really favored in anything, except possibly Best Revival (that category is hard for me to guess) and maybe Lighting. Might it be one of those popular revivals, like The Music Man, that doesn’t actually win awards? That Stephen Sondheim, pleasing the masses but getting no respect from the fancy folks who hand out awards - it would be an ironic outcome.

I find it very strange that Shucked isn’t getting interest in its set design but Kimberly Akimbo is. Personally I think Shuckeds set was also better than Sweeney’s.

yup, the only lead performance as determined by the Tonys committee was Caroline Innerbichler. Durand and Behlmann, along with Cahoon, Newell, and Henson, are will be considered featured. Sucks for anybody who isn’t Newell, who is the only one of that group I would consider a shoo-in.

Agreed but because it's a "unit" set with very little extra's it's easy to see how it could be overlooked. Kinda like choreography...typically the show with the most dancing is the front runner regardless of the quality

I agree with you.

It's a unit set that doesn't do anything. Kimberly's set, while small, is a great use of space and function. Considering it came from off - Broadway, which is why it is designed as such. I think it's a slam dunk.

I would think Platt is the front runner for Best Actor? Doesn't seem too but much excitement in that category this year.

This years race is exciting.
I think Some Like It Hot will in Best Musical.
If I had to put money right now on Best Actor in a Musical, I'd go with J. Harrison Ghee to win, and, frankly, he deserves to.
Interesting. I just feel like Some Like It Hot hasn't been in the conversation much nor have any of the televised performances been interesting, but love to see Ghee win.
My money is on Ghee winning this year, as well.
These nominations seem all wrong. I hope the real nominations aren't like this.
I had been thinking Groban for awhile, but I’m now leaning towards Ghee. It feels like he’s got the right mix of passion and narrative right now.
Despite the change, I’m not reading into the Drama Desk or OCC snubs, it’s different bodies and they snubbed Josh for his previous Tony nominated performance too. Same for Platt with Drama Desk.
Ghee is the frontrunner for sure. Josh and Ben are fine, but Ghee brings the star power and has an incredible story arc. It will also be the biggest win for Some Like It Hot.

Ghee is giving the most Tony worthy peformance of the year!
I'll join the chorus: it's the year of Ghee.
Ghee has a very good storyline but I didn’t really care for their 11 o’clock number, which I thought was a second-rate “Big, Blonde, and Beautiful.”
Nonetheless, a Lead Actor in a Musical win for Ghee would be a powerful statement, what with non-binary and transgender folk under attack all over the country.
