I still can't picture her Thank Goodness.
Can someone dub her like in the olden days? :)

The hair thing must be contractual.
In terms of her voice, I think she sounds lovely on Over the Rainbow.
But, I agree. I can't hear her doing Thank Goodness. Where's Marni Nixon when you need her?

LMAO yes, because Jon Chu would still be looking for performers if they could not handle the score, if they were a bad fit. He has the main cast. Give people a CHANCE. I hope you're joking about Marni.

I mean… it wouldn’t be the first time someone playing Glinda couldn’t sing “Thank Goodness” (looking at you Kendra Kassebaum).
I am optimistic that Ariana is able to sing the score. I just hope she can sing it as written without any extra vocal runs. The vocals of the two leading ladies are the least of my concerns - I’m more worried about their acting. Granted, these are not necessarily hard roles to play as far as acting goes (and this show has clearly been “popular” no matter who has played those roles on stage), but I do think the screen is less forgiving.

That’s funny you say that because aside from not singing the last note, Kendra actually sings one of my favorite versions of “Thank Goodness” because she can actually belt the good stuff.

I think Ariana sounds lovely in that video. I can’t wait to hear her rendition of “No One Mourns the Wicked”

I don't know about Jon Chu, but have you ever met Joel Schumacher, or Tom Hooper? Neither bothered to continue looking when their male leads couldn't handle the score.

Bowen Yang was on Late Night with Seth Meyers last night, where he talked about getting to be a part of this project.

Then Jon Chu would have either stopped looking, or would still be casting if he thought Cynthia, Ariana or anyone else could not handle the score/role. So wait til the movie comes out before you judge

That’s probably the most naive thing I’ve ever read. If that carries over into the rest of your thinking then your life must be bliss.

Ariana sounds great on over the rainbow. I'm not a fan of hers but she really did sound great. Excited for her Glinda.

"I don’t know that you can compare them. It’s like apples to oranges. The show is its own thing. The show is its own legend. I think this film is both an homage to the show and the book."

This year the Broadway production turns 20 years, does any one know if there'll be any celebration?

I hope we get our first look at Cynthia and Ariana in character for the 20th anniversary
Looks like Universal will no longer have to worry about opening Part One shortly after Avatar 3 (which will also feature Michelle Yeoh).
