I have a feeling they’re waiting for Colleen Ballinger and Todrick to come in, to change the playbills. It sucks though, Alison deserves her own playbill.
Ugh, Sparks was terrible in IN THE HEIGHTS. at least she's not closing out the show. This makes me believe the final Jenna will be Bareilles or Mueller.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.
I agree. If you’re gonna stunt cast like this, why not just let Stephanie Torns take over until you announce Jordan’s run. Ugh. They jipped Alison Luff so much.
Are we not assuming Alison is coming back in October? I’m sure she knew going in that she would be tapped out at some point.
Also, regarding the quick announcement, Jordan must’ve literally signed the contract yesterday. The Waitress team has reached out to dozens of “celebrities” and see if they’re interested, and when they’re available. It all happens extremely quickly.

Isn’t the wicked tour having some turnovers soon? Maybe she’ll go back on the road with it. Hope she gets another job quickly. She’s easily one of my favorite actresses.

Interesting to know who else did they reach out to? I’ve heard they asked Kat McPhee to return in Oct but she wasn’t sure - understandable after already doing 4 mths on Broadway and 5 mths in London. Seems they’re really trying to boost the coffers before the show closes huh, although I’m not sure how big a draw Jordin will be as it feels she’s been off the radar for a while.
I feel super bad for Alison Luff tbh. Unless she’s returning after Jordin’s stint they’ve really screwed her over by only giving her 2 months as Jenna .... and no playbill! Feels like her stint as Jenna has gone totally under the radar
I can’t comment on whether Jordin is good casting or not as I’ve never seen her act in anything, but I do love her voice!

Was at the show tonight, it appeared to be sold out, or close to it. The audience was really enthusiastic, lots of applause when Colleen first came out. The applause after “When He Sees Me” also lasted a long while. Colleen was a great Dawn, her voice is amazing and she nailed the comedy. I never would have guessed this was her broadway debut. Todrick was alright as Ogie, his singing was excellent, but that’s about it. He also got a lot of applause when he first appeared and in the middle of his song as well. They are still using Shoshana’s playbill if anyone is interested about that.
The stage door was absolutely insane, some of her fans were actually running out of the theater right after “Everything Changes”, possibly without realizing there was one more song, as a result there were a lot of other people leaving during “Opening Up (Finale)” as well just to secure a good spot at stage door. I would have been really annoying if it had been my first time seeing the show, but I still think it’s rude and disrespectful to the performers.
edit: forgot to mention, Jordin Sparks was in the audience tonight.
Thanks LxGstv for the great report. Not surprised about Colleen being great, but I'll keep a open mind on Todrick. I'm sure he's adorable! I have false hope that the stage door isn't too bad after the matinee. I'm up early to get rush tickets (5:20 train) because I'm expecting the line to be insane.

No, I meant the casting. And telling from the random Sparks announcement, it should be soon.
Jordan Catalano said: "Won’t Bareilles be on tour when the show closes?"
Her concert tour ends a couple days before Thanksgiving, which would theoretically give her time to get back into the role and close the show out with a 4-5 week run starting in December and ending on 1/5.

Do you think they'll let Stephanie Torns have one last run between Jordin's final show and whenever the final Jenna comes in? I think it'd be far seeing as she had been with the show since the beginning.
Real talk. This is a jip of the highest (lowest?) order. Seriously, her and Nicolette got the short end of the stick on this one. Even Betsy got a decently healthy run.
Is the show seriously doing that bad that they needed to stunt cast Sparks of all people? Who really isn't all that well known/relevant anymore? This show has gone thought more stunt/star castings (yes I know the difference) than most I can think of in recent memory. That never is a good sign. Sara was always going to happen, and that's fine as it made perfect sense to do. But yeeesshhhhh Sparks' casting seems to come out of nowhere. But I wouldn't be surprised if Sara or Jessie closed it out. I think Sara is the more likely scenario. That closing show sold out within a day or less, and while closings usually do sell out, I daresay those who bought a ticket for knew it would likely be Sara closing it, so it sold like hotcakes.
Ok kids lets talk about the bottom line...money.....Jordin Sparks may not be a name but she is certainly more than Allison (no shade meant ) and curiosity factor alone will bring in money. The show is great and all the Jennas have also been great, but the bottom line is you have to fill the seats. Allison most certainly signed a contract and I am sure it is in the contract about tagging out to someone else at some point. To say she got gypped ,,,,she is starring in a Broadway show as the lead ...and she has no name recognition at all outside of Broadway...she is winning every night she steps on that stage...I love this show it is one of my ride or die shows honestly..but I also love every interpretation that I have heard and I am sure Jordins will be great also...Stunt casting is needed unless you have a juggernaut show like Phantom or Wicked.. Great job Allison keep kicking ass and lets hope Jordin fills the seats.... no matter what it is about the MONEY...THE PROM was the best new show last year hands down...but it closed in 8 months because it didn't make money...as great as the cast was and it was topnotch...stunt casting may have kept it running....to me Stunt casting was Marla Maples in The Will Rodgers Follies...(no talent no experience) casting a singer or actress from outside of the NYC is not really stunt casting
