My friends and I had a random...open mike as it were, a couple weeks ago. We got out my mic and taped us reading poetry and then making it up...letting it drip from our tongues like honey, as Mr. Keating put it in Dead Poets Society. I was listening to the tape and realized that one of my poems was about Anthony (actually, it was more a stream of consciousness). I figured I should share it (it's not bloody Shakespeare, mind you) and start our communional New Year off with some true Anthony love. Maybe this will be a nice thing for him to find if he's still lurking.
Happy New Year all! Now on to the poetry thing!
Are you completely insane so that the insanity of us doesn't affect you?
Or are you just so...glad that people care enough to
talk about how much you talk with your hands or
that you're really, really pale and we find that
absolutely adorable?
That you realize we write those stories about you
(partly because it would be reallly hot if you and Adam made out)
but mostly out of wanting to make sure your life goes perfectly
like in a story
because that's what we want for you.
Because you're such a kind and open person.
I mean, you can feel warmth radiating from the computer
when you're online even though the person receiving the warmth
is miles and miles and states away.
You've got something so rare
(and I don't mean your talent, tons of people have talent)
I just mean...I don't know what I mean.
But you're rare in that quality that's impossible to describe.
The way that you're just...giving
and you have so much heart and so much soul
and you can just share it with everyone,
people you've never met and
never will meet or work with or know.
Even if you don't necessarily mean to
you inspire me and countless others.
Because of love for you, we've formed a real
community of love, a sisterhood (and brotherhood)
and we all thank you for the friends we've found.
We love you. I love you. No questions asked.
If you don't know,
Anthony,
you need to.

And now, here it is, set down by someone else, a person you have never met, someone even who is long dead. And it is as if a hand has come out, and taken yours." -The History Boys
6. "Pass the parcel. That's sometimes all you can do. Take it, feel it and pass it on. Not for me, not for you, but for someone, somewhere, one day. Pass it on, boys. That's the game I want you to learn. Pass it on." -The History Boys
