Exactly, every show on TV it seems, is portraying sex, drugs and drinking as the cool thing to do. In shows like Sex and the City its all about these 4 women having lots and lots of sex. Though I think the most dispicable show on TV right now has to be that Real World/Road Rules: Battle of the Sexes. It is teaming with sexist behavior at its finest, a bunch of testosterone packed male egos hitting on the beautiful girls while they all bitch at one another and have cheap sex and party. And on the side they compete in crazy challenges for money. Its disgusting in my opinion. At my high school people are actually taking things like that into consideration. Not only is it immoral and crude but chain drinking and smoking is extremely hazardous to ones health and mentality. It shocks me that the companies that air that kind if thing feel no guilt at the impressions they are drilling into the minds of people everywhere. Sorry, I know this is off subject but anyone can answer to the above Question.

Hi all --

I just spent a very long time composing a long post and answering all sorts of questions, and accidentally hit a key on my browser that took me to another page, and when I hit the back key, all of the text I'd typed was GONE.

ARGH.

I'm sorry to say I won't be able to recapture all of it now, since it's getting late. GRRRRRR.

But a quick note:

In honor of the nine-year anniversary of Jonathan's death, I just wanted to publicly thank him again for giving me the opportunity of a lifetime by casting me in his show that has just continued to change my life.

I also wanted to say that we got "Rent" done in the studio today, and it will definitely sound *good.*

Argh, there was so much more I said. I will try to get to it soon. Thanks for all of your patience.

Take care --

Anthony

damn I'm sorry about the lost post. My computer does that to me all the time, I think the count is up to 10 times so far....technology is unfortunately lost on me. Speaking of computer screw ups does anyone know how to get interactive CD videos to play? I'm just about ready to stab my computer for all its worth. :-/

Technology is very frusterating sometimes, we understand.

I thought you might like to read some of the posts being written in honor of Jonathan, so here are the links ...

Someone mentioned it on a different post, and I think it might be fitting to ask today (er, tomorrow for another hour), but do you know if the film will be dedicated to Jonathan's memory at all?

Thanks, and I'm glad recording is going well!

Thanks for the links LoudIrishGirl. Those are some very touching posts people wrote. There was some speculation that an early internet draft of the RENT script had a new character named Jonothan who was obviously supposed to represent Larson in it but I don't know if that script was real or just a prank. Anyways, I'm glad recordings are going well too and I can't wait to hear them when they are released. RIP Jonathan

It's amazing how popular RENT has become, I did a presentation today on the history or Broadway and I played some clips from RENT and about 25 out of the 30 people in the classroom all started singing along (Which was pretty damn good considering alot of them are vocal students)and dancing in their seats. It was surprising because some of these people were like the last people I'd expect to be into RENT. It was pretty cool though to see how well known it was.

"It was surprising because some of these people were like the last people I'd expect to be into RENT."

I know! I've had about 3 different girls in my class seriously suprise me when they said they loved Rent. I think it just shows the real power of the music, because it draws in so many different types of people. It's amazing.

I agree, I knew some of the people in the class who love it but it was a different thing entirely to see everyone kind of humming or singing quietly along. It then just kind of got louder and louder. Even our teacher was joining it. Needless to say, that was one of the funnest Music and History classes I've ever sat through. ^^

For a theology class in around 7th grade I played some songs from Rent, and almost the entire class just looked at me oddly. A few of the kids had seen the show and smiled, but mostly people just stared a little confused. *sigh* I am hoping that's just because it was in 7th grade, lol. My teacher liked the songs, though.

That one class sounds like it was a nice moment! I really love it when a group of people spontaneously starts to sing together, it's such a (for lack of a better word) bonding experience.

God bless Jonathan Larson.

Jennifer Siebel is now listed on IMDB.com as a member of the cast of Rent now. Any idea of what character she is?

For teaching us how many minutes are in a year
For teaching us to live each minute like it was our last
For teaching us that there is no time but now
For teaching us that you can't measure a life by math
For giving us connection in an isolating age that tears us apart
We thank you Jonathan Larson for giving us 9 seasons of love

And I thank you Anthony for continuing to share that love with us

Well said, BS2B. :)

Here's another to add:

Anthony,

I'm so sorry that you ally lost lots of questions for other people this morning.

I just want to say about Jonathan Larson-the creator of the hit musical 'Rent' is his which was confirmed nine years ago today and it haunts me so much.

I heard that he was a one-hit wonder with great courage. Its songs from the musical are unmissable classics including 'Seasons of Love'.

Jonathan, Your talent remains a great honor and I thank you for all the respects that you had during your lifetime.

I'm glad that the soundtrack recording is going so well and I'm looking forward to the which takes place in San Francisco in March with my favourite director Chris Columbus directing and you are in it.

Hey Anthony!

I was just wondering if you would rather have a Tony or an Oscar? Not to jinx anything...

Thanks!

I'm just glad to hear the everything is going well with recording.

RIP Jonathan Larson Thank you.
I agree, beautiful post BS2B.

LoudIrishGirl, yeah it was a really nice moment when everyone started singing along. I knew a few people who liked the show but that was unexpected. This one girl (who loves the show to death) was singing along and dancing in her seat and that kind of got everyone else going. :-P

It's amazing how well known some of Jonathan Larson's songs are. For example, I think I heard Seasons of Love when I was like 5 or 6 but I didn't realize that was what it was until I got the RENT soundtrack. I was listening to it and was thinking "Wow, this sounds so familiar..." I mean that was something I basically grew up listening to even though I didn't know about RENT til this past year.

Sorry you are having a bad day Race...Thank you. I've got finals tommorow so that won't be too fabulous. Geometry is like a foreign language to me. But anyways, hope everyone has a great night and I hope recordings/rehearsals go well for you Anthony. Thank you.

Sorry about your post, Anthony.
I wore a black armband today (we have uniforms so its all I could do to physicially acknowledge today) and when people asked me what it was all about, a lot of them knew who Jonathan Larson was! It was so cool, especially since I go to a really sheltered school. A few of them even started singing No Day But Today :)
BS2B-beautiful post!
