Sweaty Oracle is now reporting Audra's Gypsy is going into the Majestic, although he also just said that Stranger Things is going in.
Man that new house curtain is U G L Y!
I've always loved how the sculptures at the tops of the columns on the side walls look a lot like the rising candelabras from Phantom.
As much as I am still devastated over the loss of Phantom, it is actually somewhat comforting to see the seats back in the theater.
I don't want to start a whole thing here so I hesitate to post this, but I think if Mackintosh and Really Useful had held out a few more months, Phantom would still be running profitably. I know that doesn't fit in with Cameron's plans for his long runners but still. I suppose I am also still in a bit of denial about all this. I still can't bring myself to go near 44th and 8th.

Hasn't she explicitly said there's no truth that she's doing Gypsy?

Audra deflected a question in a red carpet interview, but didn't outright deny that it's happening. She didn't look straight into the camera and say "I, Audra McDonald, am not doing Gypsy next season and have no plans to do Gypsy," she laughed it off and said something to the effect of "haha, lots of rumors swirling... just rumors though..."

I mean, when you go to the actual report from ET where it originates she does in fact flat out say "No."
Despite rumors to the contrary, McDonald tells ET's Nischelle Turner that she will not be returning to Broadway to take on the iconic role of Mama Rose in a revival of Gypsy premiering during the 2024-2025 season.
"Oh no, that was a rumor. I read about that many in the New York Post too," McDonald reveals to ET on the 2024 Screen Actors Guild Awards red carpet Saturday night. "You know, people talk, people talk."

It all just makes me very, very sad.

Same. We'll be heading up to NY in November for Sunset Boulevard, which will be right across the street from The Majestic. It's going to be difficult.

While I can’t say this was the one of Scott Rudin 5 show plan that I was looking most forward to. I am curious to see if he or his associates are attached. As Audra McDonald in Gypsy was one of his five revivals he had planned after better midler in hello Dolly. (The other beinh Hugh Jackman music man. … then a little night music (Julie andrews and cate Blanchett. Which I unfortunately think will no longer happen as it was originally planned for 2022. Then the Mame revival with Cher is yet to me seen. And an “all star” Follies revival). I’m curious to see if the follies revival still makes its way through
