Glad they are cleansing the Majestic of ALW withSondheim/Styne"
The Majestic does not need to be cleansed of Harold Prince and Maria Bjornson's masterpiece.

The new MAJESTIC sign went up, and it is gorgeous!

Wasn’t Toni Colette rumored to be Mame in Rudin’s production?

Yes

And Tom Kirdahy being there with Blottcher is interesting. If it's not one of his shows, then why would he be there?
Could it be SPIDER WOMAN? (Not that he doesn't have many shows in the works besides that.) Big house for that.

How long would you expect an Audra-led Gypsy to run? September 2024 to late summer 2025 perhaps?
So many on this board were repeating the rumor that Phantom was returning to the Majestic in the 2024-25 season. Just curious if those rumors have died down now or if Gypsy would be more of a limited run.

An extremely unsubstantiated rumor. A return was absolutely not happening
Posted: 4/29/24 at 2:23pm
Begging people to stop bringing up those extremely unsubstantiated, pie-in-the-sky revivals that Rudin was allegedly putting together.
Almost all seem so far-fetched to even happen with him that I seriously doubt they'd happen without him.
Give it a rest.

I guess no announcement today? Maybe Wednesday?

That member is not a reliable source of information.

I suppose the installation of a "MAJESTIC" sign signals the rumored renaming isn't happening.

…unless they plan on adding a secondary sign and call it “MAJESTIC Hal Prince”

I am personally glad it is still the Majestic.

Same. I'm not really a fan of naming theaters out of people.
Did they replace the seats or at least reupholster them? If not, they've been there for over 35 years!

Pretty sure they were all ripped out.
Also, did someone really try pulling the Audra Gypsy thing again? Lol

So you're saying I'm not getting that Mame revival with Cher?

Not crazy about the maroon and gold with the cream and blue…
((I realize it’s the house curtain that won’t be viewed with most of the productions that come to play the Majestic; but the differences in the contrasts that throw me off.))

I could be wrong - but I don't think there is any blue. I think what is reading as blue is actually silver leaf reflecting the cool-toned fluorescent work lights.

Someone needs to educate the BWW intern what a marquee is. This is called the theatre signage. The marquee is the structure above the sidewalk and over the entrance with the show info.

In the theatre signage world, this type of vertical display is referred to as a "blade".

Audra Gypsy is indeed happening, so sorry to those snarking at people for bringing it up (there’s a website being prepped behind a password https://gypsybway.com/). Unsure if it’s going into the majestic, but it’s coming.
The same setup was in place for the Appropriate move (which Hogan tried to discredit and ended up dead wrong), so assume they are at the same ad agency.
