Worst musical I ever saw, personally, STREET CORNER SYMPHONY. Was a SMOKEY JOE'S wannabe.
Spotlight
Possibly Daddy Goodness, but I've mercifully forgotten most of it.
Onward Victoria (that was a musical, right?)
Platinum
And, of course,Starlight Express / Cats
I thought "Jekyll and Hyde" was horrendous. Frankly, I think "The Sound of Music" is so cornball that it qualifies, but I'm obviously in a minority.
The Frogs
Wicked was awful. Legally Blonde was bad Billy Elliot was amazing Matilda deserved the tony. How is a Billy Elliot amazing? It has an absolutely atrocious score that I find completely unlistenable and half ass book. The kids playing Billy were good dancers but crappy actors. It is easily one of the most overrated shows of all time! And how is Wicked awful? If you take away the spectacle, you will get a musical with a dynamic score and great book.

Home Sweet Homer
Titanic (yes the tony award winner)
Marlowe
Not the worst musical of all time, but the current PRODUCTION of Les Miserables was one of the most boring train wreck I have sat through.
I'm surprised no one has mentioned "Passing Strange."

The worst musical I've ever seen was Catch Me If You Can. Absolutely misguided in its concept, some of the most boring, bland songs I've ever heard, and (except for Norbert Leo Butz and "Don't Break the Rules") no fun, emotion, or really anything. An absolutely misfire of a musical.
Wicked isn't just over blown.
it's a horrible musical that had a good cast. The only reason that it's such a big deal is because it appeals to teenage girls and people who have never seen a musical before.
Although Cats is still brutally bad.

Loved Passing Strange. I own the movie. Cannot wait to see the finished version of his new musical, The Total Bent at the Public this season. Saw the lab 2 years ago, amazing.
The worst show I've ever seen was Wonderful Town. I don't know if it was just the cast I saw or the book but I couldn't stand it.

Forgot about Bare. Add another vote from me.
Les Miz both bores and saddens me too much- i like a feel good musical because life is sad enough by itself- i come to the theatre to escape for a couple hours.
I found The First Wives Club to be a huge mess of a musical- But it was fun watching the train wreck. I liked the three ladies other work, but this was just not good at all- it could have been great, but this was....
But worst Musical of All Time- That's a really hard question. LOL
I second Passing Strange and Wicked
Passing was so bad to me I never bothered getting the cast album which is always almost automatic after I see a musical.
Hard to make Les Mis anything other than it is. Doubt playing it for laughs would work. It is sort of the French answer to the 60's TV show The Fugitive.
