i have a feeling simplejoys won't since he's fighting with me tonight about everything.
PIPPIN: ARDEN (duh)
Leading Player: Pasquale (pleases everyone)
Catherine: Gena Louise Kelly (they had the chemistry)
Fastrada: CHER (duh)
Charlemange: Molina is Perfect
Lewis: Sorry Chris S., He has to be PIPPIN's younger Bro,
um,,Foa,or A. Fleming?
And whoever thought of Channing as Berte deserves their own TONY.
I can't spell sorry
Pippin - Michael Arden or Gavin Creel
Leading Player - Billy Porter, or Darius de Haas
Catherine - Laura Benanti or Chenoweth
Fastrada - Vanessa Williams (maybe she can redeem herself after her blasphemy to Into the Woods)
Charlemagne - Tim Curry
Berthe - Carol Channing or Carole Shelley
Lewis - Darren Ritchie
Kisses all those that nominated Carol Channing for Berthe.

Since I feel it's my duty to bump every Pippin post....
Pippin: Michael Arden works for me.
Leading Player: Ben Vereen revives his perfect role for the perfect Pippin. But I also like the Wayne Brady suggestion. The man has the charisma, AND he can sing and dance.
Charlemagne: I like the Tim Curry suggestion. He would be perfectly in character.
Berthe: Carol Channing would be fabulous. But I also like Angela Lansbury potentially (although I hear Carol's "voice" being more fitting). Sidebar - I always wanted to cast a man in this role (see my ealrier debates on female leading players and male Berthes).
Fastrada: Actually - I'm going to go with Kristin Chenoweth on this. I think she could do some great things vocally with "Spread a Little Sunshine."
Lewis: Really can't thingk of anyone for Lewis just yet. We'll have to see who auditions. : )
Catherine: Michelle Federer would be fab in this role. She looks the part, and the vocals are right for her.
Oh, I like the Michelle suggestion. And of course Chenoweth would be amazing.
Pippin - Barrett Foa or Christian Borle
Leading Player - Billy Porter
Catherine - Kelli O'Hara
Fastrada - Julia Murney
Charlemagne - Brian Dennehy (I know it wont happen, but still!)
Lewis - Hehe. Cheyenne Jackson, if the part weren't so small.
Berthe - Channing all the way. Or Elaine Stritch.
I'm picturing Channing as Berthe...oy.
"Ohh, it's tyyiiime to staaaart lyyyiving..."
Maybe they can work a moment in where she stops the song, looks at the audience and says - in that legendary voice - "Rassssspberries." Sigh. I love that part of Millie.
Leading Player--how about Raul or Norbs?
Pippin--John Tartaglia

Interesting someone mentioned Vanessa Williams as Fastrada.
After Vanessa did Kiss on Broadway, she did Bye Bye Birdie. Shortly after that she was on some red carpet and was asked what part would you like to play next on Broadway or any stage.?
Her answer ...Anita in West Side Story.
So she might just be willing to give Fastrada a try.
Personally I don't see it but I've got Chita on my mind and sister...that's a hard one to forget.
darcEEEEEEEy...I loved your cast. Molina is a great choice, I only regret not thinking of it first. You have impressed me with your knowledge of one of the finest musical comedies EVER written. Thank you for your words.

If they can find someone as charismatic and talented as Vereen to play the Leading Player, they will totally steal the Tony away from Arden, no doubt. The role itself just allows someone to shine much more than the boring role of Pippin does, though I agree that Arden is great in it.
EDIT: spelling
Harvey Fierstein as Berthe would be a hoot!
Doubt anyone could make me forget Ben Vereen.
For Pippin - anyone would be better than William Katt.

Basically the entire cast for the World Aids Day concert was perfect. But there are a few changes I would make
Pippin-Without a doubt Michael Arden. He was perfect in the concert
Leading Player-I loved all of the leading players in the concert(Except Rosie)but I would say Billy Porter fits the role the most. However if they want to go in a different direction Kate Shindle would make an amazing leading Player. It might actually add something to the role because she could use her sexuality to lure Pippin further into the plot. Also to go in a different direction, Raul would be really good too. He would definetly play it completly different than anyone else has ever done it, and I have no doubt that he would be fighting Michael Arden for the Tony that year.
Catherine-Sutton Foster would be wonderful, but Laura Benanti was ideal in the role.
Charlemagne-Once again I have to go with the concert cast and say Terrance Mann. He was hilarious and made the role fun.
Berthe-It would be great to see Angela Lansbury onstage again, but I think Elaine Stritch would capture the Berthe so perfectly. Can't you just imagine her saying the line about men raising flags when they can't get anything else up?
Fastrada-Julia Murney. Anyone who say her in this role knows it doesnt need any explaining why she should play the part

simplejoys, glad we're on the same page about it being one of the best musical comedies written. ever.
actually, harvey fierstein would be great... i thought of him, but wasn't sure if we were cross-gender casting. i maintain that bea arthur would be fabulous as berthe.
The Leading Player: Wayne Brady
Pippin: John Tartaglia or Barrett Foa or Hunter Foster
Catherine: Jane Krakowski or Sutton Foster
Fastrada: Bernadette Peters (anyone?) or Bebe Neuwirth (sp?)
Charlamange: Brian Stokes Mitchell or Terrance Mann
Lewis: Roger Bart
Berthe: Carol Channing
Lord, if Pippin came back to the boards, I would havre to see it at least once a week. The show is so damn good. Anywho, here's my cast.
Pippin- Michael Arden or (if we could turn back the hands of time six years) Patrick Wilson... my one kvetch is that I want Pippin to dance and can La Arden do that?
Leading Player- Darias da Haas or Wayne Brady
Catherine- I would love for this role to be an unknown but since this is a dream casting then I'll say Anika Noni Rose... why? ya got me, kiddo
Charlemagne- Whomever suggested Tim Curry, I bow at your brilliance
Fastrada- Well, Julia Murney rocked out at the Pippin World AIDS concert so I'll say her but my question is in what key did Chita sing this song? I mean, Chita ain't exactly a belting soprano so I can't exactly see her doin the song (the role of Fastrada, yes... the song "Spread a Little Sunshine", no). So, was the key lowered?
Lewis- Hot Chorus Boy #2 from the left... or John Hill
Berte- Carol Channing... I have had this idea since God was a boy and am glad that others have had the same thought. She would be ah-mazing. Bea Arthur can do matinees
And, that's all folks.
Zach.... lord, why am I drunk at 6?
LP: Id like to see a woman, I relaly like that dynamic. I'm not sure who though.
Pippin: JOHN TARTAGLIA
Catherine: Sutton Foster - she has a plain classic beauty that is ideal
Fastrada: Vanessa isn't a bad choice! What about Bernadette? Oooh, Mullally would also be amazing.
Lewis: Anthony Rapp
CHANNING WOULD BE AN AMAZING BERTHE!
well i am a certified genius...
I'd love to see Sutton do the role.
A female leading player...hmmm...interesting....please no Rosie...

Goodness, I don't think I'd really mind who played what as long as Michael Arden played Pippin. Right, I'm a pathetic fangirl... Go ahead and scold me =)
SCRATCH THAT! I changed my mind... As long as Michael played Pippin and John Tartaglia brought back Rod to be "Head" =P
