FWIW: I asked my own 17 year old who he thought the Booth Theater was named for. His answer was something like: the only Booth I can think of is John Wilkes and I'm about 90% sure that would be wrong.
Then he went online and googled it. Not all teenagers are ridiculous.

To be fair, I'm 37, consider myself pretty knowledgeable about musical theatre (certainly compared to the general public), and had no idea who the Booth Theatre was named after.
However, I do know how to use Google, and thanks to this thread have learned a whole lot about Edwin Booth. FWIW, I vote for Jerry Herman, Bob Fosse, or Cole Porter getting the next named theatre.
I also 100% believe that this was not meant to be a troll thread. OP... sorry people are being so snarky to you, because I believe you were well-intentioned. But yeah, man... Google is your friend! Hamilton's great, but there's a whole big world of amazing musical theatre out there. Explore! Learn more! Lin-Manuel Miranda is just the tip of the iceberg.

Honey, Miranda ain't even in the top 25 people who need theatres named after them. Get in line.
Also, for the record, not every theatre should be named after someone. We still need those iconic theatre names (Majestic, St. James, Winter Garden, etc). Would hate to see those names go."
You mean the St. James isn't named after Susan St. James?
I knew the Booth Theatre was named for Edwin Booth, but I had no freakin' idea that the guy saved the son of the man his brother famously assassinated...in a theatre.
Seriously, if I had written a plot like that for one of my shows, it would be derided as too far-fetched.
And no, you don't start a petition to get information. Not the purpose of a petition at all.
