I have a general question about the student rush, because I'm really confused about it. The first time I saw it, everyone who rushed was front row. Today, it was only me and my friend on the side in BB... I could even spot the others. I know a girl who was put in the box too. So is it basically best available?
It was best available. My friend and I ended up in row L.

I chose, and my world was shaken- So what? The choice may have been mistaken,
The choosing was not...

As my fellow board members before me, allow me to extend many, many, many, many, many well wishes to the entire cast, crew, creative, etc., etc. for an exceptional opening night performance! Here's to garnering some positive reviews in tomm's paper, hmm? Heehee! I know Raul can do it!!!
I'm super excited to be seeing it on 12.05! I've never seen Raul live before, and it'll be my first time actually seeing COMPANY, of course, I'm EXTREMELY (all too) FAMILIAR with the score. Hahaha Aren't we all?
Maybe I'm just nervous, but I'm wondering if his reviews won't skew because of the Times article. I think it would be in poor taste to do so, because he was plenty damned good before that article, but I'm wondering if reviews might "go there" and attribute how good he is to his coming out -- because if you know, it's very, very clear that he's drawing on many personal demons during his performance. I hope it wouldn't happen, but I guess I could see someone saying that he's giving an excellent performance *because* of x, y and z, etc.
If some critics happen to 'go there'...well, honestly, I feel that's rather sad ... that they can't just look at a production as beautiful as I KNOW this one is and will be, and go by the talent onstage. Yes, I'm sure *some* have grown extremely tired of the alleged "gimmick" - having seen it all too many times before 'cause I'm sure SWEENEY's seemingly tired it out, right? As per Broadway incarnations, anyway. I don't get it...It's such a dark place to be, ya know? I mean, I don't listen to reviews a lot of the time, I go by my own instincts, but it pains me to know that people would use the coming out as a crutch...be it a positive or what-have-you. Raul's got 'it', he's always had it, and I think it's damn time they realizes it!
Well, I would also assume most critics know how talented he is, and that objectively, he is a wonderful actor. I don't really see the need to touch the subject in a review. I guess we'll see in a few hours.
I had promised myself I was only going to read the Times review, but now I think I won't be able to hold back. I'm too curious.
Brantley saw it on Sunday. There were a bunch of critics (though I don't know who) there last night. They can usually see any one of the last few previews; it doesn't have to be the absolute last one.
I don't believe any critic writes a review of opening night anymore - though some may still attend - but their reviews are most likely already filed (based on a press preview).
Best of luck to the entire cast and crew tonight! Can't wait to read the reviews! Break legs out there!
"This table, he is over one hundred years old. If I could, I would take an old gramophone needle and run it along the surface of the wood. To hear the music of the voices. All that was said." - Doug Wright, I Am My Own Wife
BTW: I sat in a box when I rushed the show this past weekend.

You can see surprisingly well from the boxes. It's sort of the best of both worlds, because you're not *too* far away but you still get the aesthetic of looking at it from above.
I was very pleased. I felt very close to the action yet i could see the actors upstage and their instruments. The only thing I missed is Stage Right passed the piano, but the cast rotated so I was able to see everyone.
